Subject: Troll getting Undead mount really this hard?
I am close to just being friendly with UC and see that I have a long way to go. I notice I can get 50 rep points for every stack of runecloth which costs 2g per. When I look at the rep needed for each gain I tried to calculate this and I need around 700 stacks so around 1400g plus 900 for epic mount. I really am horrible at math and could be wrong but is it really this difficult? 2300g just for a different mount....wth.

In order to earn the privilege of riding another race's mount, you have to earn the respect of the race in question. One of the easiest ways to do this is to travel to the other races starting zone at the earliest level possible, and begin your adventuring then. That way, the amount of cloth needed to turn in will not be as great.

If you are too late for that, you can start grinding for the cloth, or purchase it from the Auction House like you have already investigated. All in all, yes, it is supposed to be difficult to ride the mount of another race.
