Subject: 1.90 Release Date
   I've been hearing plenty of speculation about 1.90 and the world event to open up Ahn'Quiraj and despite not knowing quite what it will entail I'm looking forward to it. However;

I did some broad estimations of when we're likely to see 1.90 released and near as I can figure there's a good chance it'll be landing right around final exams for us university students in the Fall semester (or Spring semester for those unfortunate souls in Australia).

If the Bliz development crew has been considering a 1.90 release for early December, if you could push that back to Christmas break, I'd take it as a personal favour. I don't want to miss out on a one time world event (and the first world event where players will actually have an effect on the world).

   While we can't reveal information about patch dates, the world event is designed to span over a long (can't be more specific, sorry) period of time and allow participation by a wide range of players.

In this way, many players can feel that they contributed to the "triggering" of the world event.

Q u o t e:
Heh, do you guys communicate over at Blizzard? We've already been told many times the world event was expected to take about 3 weeks to complete on most servers.

We all know you thoroughly enjoy the "we don't want to talk to you except to say useless $!@%" thing but that doesn't mean you have to abuse it.

I apologize, I have heard that number put out there, but was not aware how widely known it was in public.

Also, I hope that players don't get too set on achieving the world event in 3 weeks. While that is the target goal for achievement, we don't want players to feel disappointed if it takes them longer than that to trigger the world event.

In other words the gate will open when a server wide quest is completed...

"Bring me 500,000 runecloth, 200,000 Thorium Bars, 1000 Large Brilliant Shards, 500 Arcane Crystals, and 40 Lava Cores! Be sure to spend lots of money so that the hardcores can get new phat lewtz!"

And some pretty tough quests to boot. ;)

Tyren, I like to raid but abhor gathering quests. I would rather spend time wiping on Vael and raiding MC every week than gather 1000x of an item. Why couldn't it be an encompassing quest line that takes you into many instances and all over Azeroth? I think the community can agree as a whole -- Hardcore and Casual-- that this type of paradigm is archaic and tedious.

I know it's easier to create content like this, but finding clues from prior content would be much more fun.

There will be elements of both. Some quests involved in this event will require you to gather resources, while others will require raiding.
