Subject: Gold Farming? *Bliz whistles and runs away*
A number of people who play the game farm gold to be sold for real money. Others sell accounts for real money. As far as I can tell these are both and against Bliz's rules and yet no one stops them. Many of the people sell gold have guilds and operate in the open. And yet everytime I go to a website that so much as mentions WoW, an avalanche of ads trying to sell me 1000 gold for 55 American! or Mighty Accounts!. Does Bliz even care? How can they suspend people for mundane things like exploits when a number of people violate policies everytime they log on? Lately, I would even be led to believe that Bliz is going even EASIER on them. I have been receving advertisements in game by tells and even by mail. What would drive them to do this on my little server unless the farmers knew their account wasn't going to be banned or even severly punished. I come in contact with them all the time. They can break the rules and get away with it, time and time again. So I wonder to myself... am I the only one who finds it infuriating? Why won't Bliz do anything about them? If they are doing things about them, I can throw out a name right off the top of my head. I am beginning to develop theories as to why Bliz refuses to enforce its own rules.

The Theory:
Blizzard has allowed farming to run so rampant that there are now thousands of farmers currently selling Bliz's wares. Each of them has to pay the monthly fee and Blizzard is willing to look the other way as long as the money rolls in. In a game of millions of characters, there has to be thousands of farmers.

That is my main theory as to why Bliz refuses to stop people who violate their policies (I expect a number of people telling me, no that's not the case, but actions speak louder than words). If Bliz IS actually doing anything about it I haven't noticed it since the aformentioned farmer (who I am not going to name because it would probably be harrasment... funny how I have to follow the rules but not him) is yet to be punished in any way. So thats it. I am bamboozled as to why Bliz would lay down and submit to a small group of people hell bent on violating policy but that seems to be the case.

Q u o t e:
You next trick is to read through the ToU. Go on... I'll give you a few minutes.

Doing alright there?

Ok...

Now, please quote back to the class where it says that "farming" is against the rules? (Accumulating wealth, hunting in the same spot for long periods, etc...)

Blizzard does nothing to the "farming" accounts, because they are doing nothing against the rules. None of them are selling gold. They let other accounts do that- and those are the accounts that can be dealt with.

While most kidlets like to complain about this, this is a good policy to work with... y'know, instead of just arbitrarily booting off anyone because a few people have #@%$!ed about the price of Krol Blades.

Everyone farms, to some degree. There are no rules regarding "how much." There are plenty of US players farming Tyr's hand, too. Do we ban those as well? Or do you make exceptions for *them* simply because they speak english? Despite the fact they're doing *exactly the same thing?*

No rules are being broken. No punishments are being handed out. That IS enforcing their own rules. The kiddies, however, can't seem to understand that.

Thank you, Stumpwater. I don't know if you came to this conclusion yourself or took it from the thread where I last discussed this issue. This ongoing issue is just that, an ongoing issue. Won't be resolved today or tomorrow or the next day. We do what we can, but any headway merely redirects the farmers efforts to another opportunity and is, more often than not, wholly overlooked by the player base. Keep in mind, the farmers haven't been in Tyr's Hand forever. I've watched them migrate for some time. Cat and mouse, as they say...
