Subject: Caydiem receives [Plain Letter].
Penned by the hand of Private Raena, on behalf of former Master Sergeant Raveka, during the time of Hallow's End in the 25th year after the first Orcish invasion.

To the illustrious Lady Caydiem,

While I've wanted to write to you for some time, I've not had the chance to quit the field of battle until now. Due to an unfortunate incident involving Orcish brutes, erm, civilians in Ashenvale I have been relieved of my command, demoted and left with only a single assistant to tend to my needs. That however, is another story for another time.

Since my return to Stormwind City I've had the opportunity to speak with two old acquaintances of mine, Masters Trias and Shaw, on the current state and future direction of Azeroth, and where I, and the few companions that remain loyal to me, could help apply the unerring will of the Alliance. Much to my disappointment, it seems that myself and my companions are too few to assist the Alliance in any form. Mathis recommend that I join up with one of the larger guilds in the realm, which incidentally behave much more like large armies of raiders rather than brothers and sisters in arms, more concerned with divvying the spoils of battle. Having spent some time already in these private armies, and found them not to my liking, I voiced my displeasure to Mathias. He looked at me sadly and shrugged. Elling told me much of the same story - If I wanted to find adventure and work, I would have to join up with these groups of raiders.

Letters from my homeland, Teldrassil, hint that Cenarion Circle does have a use for those like my companions and I. From what I gather though, the use of our talents would be in a preliminary clearing of bugs, so that the larger guilds, raiders, can then move in and take the glory.

My companions and I have an astounding record of services performed in the duty of the Alliance. We've put an end to the traitor VanCleef, helped Jaina track down some of those responsible for the abduction of the human king, rescued Bronzebeard's daughter from the clutches of Thaurissan, stared the dreadlord Balnazzar in the eye, slain the murderous Baron Rivendare. We've helped the lost souls in the Plaguelands, cut down Darkmaster Gandling and his lich, Frostwhisper. The false warchief, Blackhand, is no more - nor is General Drakkisath. Most recently, we've stopped the madness spawned by Prince Tortheldrin in the ruins of Dire Maul.

We've spent a great deal on the frontlines of the current battles being fought, from the frozen passes of the Alteracs to the highlands of Arathi. While defending the frontlines is an honorable service, I think it is perhaps best left to the common soldier, and those more interested in gaining ranks within the Alliance.

I write to you, Caydiem, because I've nowhere else to turn. From trusted sources, I am told that you have some influence, while perhaps not direct, on those who run the affairs of the kingdom. Has the sense of adventure left the land? Is there no more room for ragtag bands of steadfast and loyal adventurers? Surely the kingdom could use a small group of adventures, say no more five, to investigate the happenings in Karazahn. Perhaps you could speak with King Bronzebeard on our behalf -- with the information we've gained the Explorers' League from Uldaman, they might have need of five willing adventurers to explore Uldum. As you well know, the history of this land is rich and scattered across the lands - there's no doubt that ruins, dungeons and crypts could be found where the skills of small, unique, tightly knit groups of adventurers could be used.

The darkness of winter is nigh, there are dark clouds on the horizon. I'm to meet with my companions, a small and diverse band of long-time friends, at the Pig and Whistle in a few weeks time to lay out our plans for the coming seasons. I beseech thee, find us adventure, find us work, lest we come like Cristoph Faral and Aedis Brom, old drunkards that do naught but talk of their former exploits.

Regards,
Master Sergeant Raveka

From the desk of Caydiem, representative of the Cenarion Circle and Seer of Past, Present and Future

Raena,

It is difficult in these times for those who prefer the path of the lone wolf to find their place in Azeroth, it is true. There are many adventures to be had, but work for the mercenary or "self-employed" is somewhat scarce as the eyes of the world focus on the coming conflicts and prepare large groups of noble heroes to fight together against these threats.

These calls do not often appeal to one of your lifestyle, naturally.

I have looked to the future, and it is largely clouded; I cannot say with certainty what lies ahead. Know, however, that the kingdoms of Azeroth have not turned a blind eye to those of your path, Raena. They focus now on large threats, but in time there may well come tasks suited for those who are of similar mind to your own. The world naturally ebbs and flows in all things; this is no different.

May you find your place in Azeroth once more, Kaldorei. Walk with the Earthmother.

Since some folks believe I gave a non-answer, here it is in plain form:

The developers realize that small guilds and solo players are feeling somewhat left out recently. They're not ignoring you. I can't speak about specific plans at this point; however, just because we're adding raid content now does not mean that will be the sole focus of every high-end content addition henceforth. They know you're after more to do and they're not idle.

Q u o t e:
I have this horrible feeling that Blizzard will respond to this need by putting in more "kiddie pool" content. Raiding has its place, but that place should be on par with small groups, not above them. While the armies are out out battling, there is almost always a select few behind enemy lines performing some incredibly dangerous and crucial task. Or, optionally, Blizzard could go back and make such choice edits as adding 38 additional characters to accompany Krasus and Malfurion while they stole the Demon Soul out under the nose of Deathwing.

What do you consider Dire Maul, out of curiosity?

That's a lot of writing for saying absolutely nothing....

Q u o t e:
No you didn't. I haven't seen as much double speech since reading 1984. Your second post will be true even if no other 5 man content is released.

e.g.
The developers aren't ignoring you they are laughing at you.
They aren't sitting ideal they are making more raid content.

Don't pretend to have answered the question when you haven't.

Okay, here are those statements clarified for the cynical:

The developers are aware of your playstyle and keep you in mind when designing new content. They wish to create content that suits all playstyles -- yours included. I do not have specifics to give you but they are not solely designing for the hardcore raider -- small guilds will have their content as well.
