Subject: Why can't we turn down/off Spell effects?
The one thing I want above all others is to be able to turn off/scale down spell effects like you could in EQ.

Why is this option not in the game!

Following are the few coherent responses from the last thread.

Q u o t e:
It's imortant to be able to turn them down/off, IF I WANT TO.

There are several reasons that someone could want to do this.
1) Bad video card/processor
2) Doesn't care about "pretty" only care about "performance"
3) for dispelling and interupts... combat log anyone?
4) slow speed connection gets blitzed by "pretty lights"

They let us turn all the other graphics options down except spell effects... why not?

(I have a good processor with a good video card, and in a 40 man raid that goes into full aoe mode... it chugs)

Q u o t e:
1600x1200 all maxed out settings in Molten Core with a full raid: 30+ FPS at all times.

Hurricane spell affect anywhere near me at any time: 10 FPS. This spell single-handedly kills game playability for me in MC.

Q u o t e:
I'd love an option like this. I never usually have a problem, but the AOE storms in the imp packs in MC and total AOE madness around graveyards and choke points in AV just kill my framerate dead. AV would actually be playable if not for the mass slowdown every time the AOE starts.

We have something slated for the next patch to allow players to reduce the amount of spell effects that happen while playing. The spell effects will not be turned off completely, but you will be able to tone them down considerably. As we get more information on this, we will let you know.
It is all about the Brambleberry
