In the next patch a lot of melee instant attacks are going to have a standard swing speed applied to them.
An example would be a 2hander has a 3.3 swing speed for say, mortal strike.
Now here is my question.
Would you get a different dmg or dps output based on the weapon's top end dmg?
EX:
Weapon 1: (90dps) 90 top end dmg, 1.0 swing speed 2her (I know its impossible but for the discussion)
Weapon 2: (90dps) 297 top end dmg, 3.3 swing speed 2her
Now if a warrior was to MS with both of those would they produce the exact same dmg range? Assuming no stats or procs on the weapons?
Would weapon 1's top end dmg change to 297 for the purpose of the MS, and also apply 3.3 worth of his attack power. Or would it retain its 90 top end dmg and just add in a 3.3 worth of attack power?
To me dps should be dps, so if you are chaning the swing speed the effective top end dmg would change as well.
Is there any chance I could get a Blue response on this?
If this isn't the case, then won't it simply mean that instead of slow swinging weapons being king of the hill, top end dmg will be king of the hill? (The two are normally linked I find).

With the new patch, the speed of the weapon will no longer play a part in determining the final damage of the attack. All weapons of a similar type use the same speed, instead of slower weapons being so much more powerful than faster ones. Please reference Eyonix's sticky post above for the exact numbers.
