Actually, we simply took down the entire "On the Horizon" section. This is not confirmation of any significant change in the design; we simply aren't comfortable with putting those time restrictions on big features as they were stated in that section.

Q u o t e:
Not that I am complaining, but you guys promoted this game stating hero classes... and now the only way we will see it is in the expansion.

Isn't that a tad misleading??

Where precisely did we state that was the case?

My first response states that the removal of the "On the Horizon" section is no confirmation of changes in our design schedule. :P

Q u o t e:
So would a decision not to implement those procedures in the future constitute a SIGNIFICANT change or not?

I'm getting a little concerned about the dodgyness cm posts have become lately. Just say "we are planning to do this later or not".

If I could me more blunt, I assure you, I would. I have to go on what I have, however, and blunt statements regarding the current state of affairs have always come back around to bite me later. ;)

Q u o t e:
check the retail box, hero classes are a listed feature.

I have the retail box right here. The word "heroes" is used to describe players twice, but I do not see any mention of Hero Classes. Perhaps you could point out the specific location?

There you have it folks, we aren't getting it.

....

Do not read into my posts anything more than what is there. The quoted post you give states only that Hero Classes are not mentioned on the box -- nothing about the current plan for them (and yes, they still are planned to my knowledge). This is how rumors and claims that we lied start. :P

Q u o t e:
Honestly though do this means that we aren't going to see hero classes until expansion?

On the horizon is the expansion pack, or not at all?

On the Horizon was "eventually". Because it said "within the year" and had truly large features underneath it, it was removed; we want to make sure any such features are top quality.

Go back and read what you wrote, anyone could of totally gotten the wrong message from your post.

No, I don't believe so, since my very first post in this thread said that the removal of the On the Horizons section did not signify any change in design plan.

Q u o t e:
Holy heck, why do CMs sound increasingly like politians?

They don't want to be held to their word, so they essentially say as much as they can without saying anything at all!

Instead of removing the on the horizons section from the page, and hoping no one notices, or claiming that it doesn't indicate anything one way or the other by it disappearing, why don't you all just be proactive and tell us what it means?

Someone had to make the decision to remove it. Why can't they also make the decision to tell us what it's removal means? Yes, people will whine when you tell us it was removed because those features are now slated for the expansion, but being honest with your customers creates more good will than dodging the issue entirely and refusing to say anything that someone can pin down as actual information.

I did in this thread.

I'll repeat it, though.

The "On the Horizon" section was termed to list features coming out "within the year". The developers were not comfortable with major features being promised in the increasingly shoter timespan -- while such things are still "on the list" for the designers, they want to take their time and make sure they're the best they can craft.

Q u o t e:
Lol...what time restrictions? Didn't the "On the Horizon" section state that these features would implemented "some time in the future"? Yea, sounds pretty restrictive...

No; to my knowledge, it said "within the year".

Q u o t e:
Thanks, Cay. I didn't realize the On the Horizon page said "within the year", so that puts some of what you've said into a different context.

However, the bigger issue isn't so much with the timetable of the feature's release, but whether it's going to be an expansion feature, or a free content patch feature, as many were expecting it to be.

And nothing has been said either way. It's easy to make assumptions when there's a lack of information, I know, but at this time I have not heard anything confirming the Hero Classes in the expansion.

Q u o t e:
--

One would ask, why start now? Have yo uread the back of the actual game box? LMAO.

Sure have. What is it that you find funny, precisely?

Q u o t e:
Unravel the continuing story of Warcraft as you engage in hundreds of custom quests -- with more being added all the time. Face the mighty Dragon of Blackrock Spire; cleanse the Undead from the looming ziggurats of Stratholme and much, much more.

Hmm... hundreds of quests, check, and more being added, yep, there have been several content patches. Content in Blackrock Spire, Stratholme, yep. Maraudon, Dire Maul, Blackwing Lair and Zul'Gurub have been added since launch, so that checks out.

Q u o t e:
Play solo or enlist fellow heroes to join forces with you as you negotiate the vast, battle-scarred landscape of a world at war.

You can group or solo; sounds about right.

Q u o t e:
Blizzard's dedicated live team creates a constant stream of new adventures to undertake, lands to explore, and monsters to vanquish. The epic quest never ends.

Again, four dungeons have appeared since launch. There have been several world events with more on the way. Silithus is becoming something far greater, and there's far more on the horizon. Seems to be right.

Q u o t e:
Explore expansive environments that are in a word: legendary. The World of Warcraft graphics engine renders the game universe seamlessly -- so you spend your time adventuring, not waiting.

The outside world is indeed seamless, and what loading times there are -- between continents and into instances -- are very quick.

So at what part, precisely, are you laughing? I'd like to share in the joke. :)

do you blizzard people ever actually play the game?

I have a 60, 57, 50, 40, and a nearly 20 Warrior on the new RP-PvP realms -- yes, I'd say I do play the game quite a bit, since these were all legitimately levelled.

What does that have to do with the situation at hand, precisely?
