Take it hard?

You misread my response.

Truth be told, I am amused -- not nearly to the point of hysterics that my picture apparently inspired, mind you, but mildly tickled -- that an individual would take time out of their day to cast an uninspired comment to me in an entirely unrelated thread. My request for clarification was genuine, as was my response. I am under no illusions about the reality of who I am, but keep well in mind that I am paid to read and respond to this board and am currently at the office, whereas there are any number of productive things that others could be doing rather than flinging such things regarding my appearance. :P

Back on the subject at hand, now. ;)

Q u o t e:
Shouldn't you be playing the game for testing / balance and other assorted issues while you are working?

It would be nice to think that the things many people are currently finding not enjoyable would be being tested by those with obviously the time and who are paid to do so, such as yourself.

People having to re-roll because they were unlucky and choose what most consider as a less enjoyable class isn't ideal.

Or did you make all these characters after work hours?

Actually, the people paid to test the game are in the Quality Assurance department.

I, on the other hand, am not paid to test the game, in point of fact. Now, I do play the game -- and am allowed to during work hours -- because it increases my understanding of the work as a whole, but I have never been asked (nor will I be, I wager) to play a particular class in a particular way because of X. You are playing this game for fun; if ever playing the game a specific way becomes my job, it ceases having the same perspective players do and thus the potential is lost for me to understand your frustrations.

I am not adverse to trying other things -- my Hunter, for example, was made so I can get a better grasp on the class -- but those are my decisions to make. I also do playtest upcoming content when I have a chance to better understand where the game is heading and what's coming up for the playerbase. Testing the game is not, however, a part of my daily job. Playing the game, on the other hand, is something my supervisor encourages a great deal.

Thank you for your insight on what you believe my job to be, however. :)

i know your lieing, because the bugs that have plagued the class still arent fixed.

When warlocks travel, our pets despawn ALL the time, meaning we have to re-summon it. its bad because it wastes shard and even worse in pvp situations..10 sec summon 1.2k mana and a shard.

We really need a "Call Pet" ability to instantly call back our despawned pets, the only time we should have to re-summon our pets is if they died.

Tell the dev team that kthnx.

No, I am not lying.

If a bug hasn't been fixed, it isn't because we're ignoring it -- some bugs take longer to fix than others, and while what you state is an annoyance, perhaps, it's not a bug.

It's both a conscious design decision and a design limitation, which means changing it would delve into either 1) a shift in tech, or 2) balance changes regarding pet summons. Both are large cans of worms. They are not, as you may believe, a simple switch that can be flipped by the developers to make the pets operate the way you'd prefer.

This is why I dislike answering "Who plays X class?" Even though I'm telling the truth, someone claims I am lying due to the current situation of the class. Development simply doesn't work that way.

Q u o t e:
At this point, the players know Blizzard's own game better than they do.

The problem is that the Blizzard doesn't understand what it really is to play a class. When most people play a character, they play it up to level 60 and beyond (endgame content). Cay herself admitted that she has 'four characters above 40'.

Quite honestly, there should be one CM for every class, that plays often enough to be at the level of play that the players that have issues with their class are.

If you're not playing the class often enough to even get to level 60 (and endgame content), how can you possibly hope to understand the problems that said class has to deal with?

My Druid has been level 60 for about six months, in fact.

Q u o t e:
That's good. But not every class is so lucky. And even if you do have a druid at 60, how much attention can you really give to figuring out the problems of that class if you have to worry about the problems of two or three other classes at the same time?

Granted, it's probably a budgeting issue, but . . . when you're pretty much the the most successful MMO in the world, can't you afford to hire a few more CMs so that every class gets the attention they deserve?

Our supervisor is of the mind that our coverage of the classes between the six of us is fine as-is. I'm not the only one with a level 60 -- to use your current posting class as an example, Tyren has a 60 Rogue and hit the level very shortly after I did. I also have a 50 Rogue of a different race. Every single member of the Community Team has played the game extensively and knows quite a bit about the game. It was my personal choice to play more than my Druid -- which is why I have a 57 Shaman, the aforementioned Rogue, and my up-and-coming Hunter. I play both Horde and Alliance to get the measure of both factions. I play characters with a variety of roles -- for example, my character on RP-PvP is a Warrior, my latest project -- to get a better handle on how they fit into the mix in the various situations of the game. Through playing these various characters, I gain understanding that affects a wider variety of people in general than if I sat on my Druid all the time. I still do play my Druid quite a bit -- and will certainly pick it up more after the 1.8 patch to play with the new changes -- and know well the trials and tribulations of being 60 for a long period of time. At the same time, I do play the game for fun, and there's a lot I've yet to do. ;)
