If I want LORE, I'll read a book. When it comes to a video game, I want the GAMEPLAY to take precedence. A little flavor text is ok, but screw the lore.
If you want lore, go to the Scarlet Monestary and read all the books laying around. I'm sure your party-members will appreciate you standing around reading while Scarlet Myrmiodons are owning them.
GOOD ACTION > GOOD STORY when it comes to video games - yes even MMORPGs. Story, plot and theme are all overrated IMO when it comes to video games.

And that's your opinion. That's fine.
Regardless, this is a world with a story connecting it; it wouldn't make sense otherwise. You may not choose to focus on it, but others do -- that's one of the fine things about this genre. :)
You can find your fun where you may, but don't begrudge others their own perfectly legitimate means of playing the game.

Q u o t e: Not just hers.
The less I have to read about "The great wizard Grofnab getting his army of Pajangas to march on the city of Lokrah to beat the evil demon Gogmunch during the blight of Hespodol", the happier I am.
If people enjoy it, that's great. I'm glad they do. However, when I go to read about a new feature of the game (like the new BG, for instance) and have to scroll down two pages just to get past the "epic" fiction just to read the details of what the thing is about.... blech.
I'd rather have the details up top and the fiction below, but that's just me.
Thankfully there are UI mods that let you instantly see the quest text without having to wait for the scrolling!
We prefer to introduce our new features with some lore behind it. I understand that you may not enjoy reading it, which is why lore is not the entirety of the preview -- if you just want to get to the bullet list, well, it's there for you.
We're introducing the means to skip the quest text slow reveal in the default UI for those who don't enjoy it, but I would not expect a sharp decline in the continuation of lore in the game anytime soon. Many other players do in fact derive enjoyment from it.
