It hit me reading the articles in CNN and NY Times. You're not just big right now, you're massive. You're the Microsoft of computer game franchises. You've stormed the industry and not only rendered the previous champions helpless, you raised the bar on internet gaming to a level never conceived before. And what's more, you're raking in the cash like no one else.
And I realize this all may be going to your heads.
You may be looking at the daily reports and thinking, "We can do no wrong." When your CS reps pass on user complaints to you, you avert your gaze back to that bottom line and think "Eh, looks like everyone's happy to me with things as is." When competitors pump out content changes and updates and addons at paces light years faster than your own, you think "Why bother? We have four times their number, they'll wait."
PLEASE be careful, guys. There is truth in the old cliche, "The bigger they are....". WoW is very capable of falling hard and fast. You reached this plateau by being fresh and innovative, and the game is neither of those any longer. Despite its success, its falling far behind its competition in these key elements.
So, don't get too comfortable. You have the ability to perfect a genre, but it seems like you're instead trying to play too safe. Don't. You have four million gamers behind you hoping this just gets better and better, and you have it in your power to make it so.
Please don't blow it. We're counting on you.

No no, I assure you, we don't think we're deities by any means. Our developers are on the job fixing what needs to be fixed, investigating issues brought up by player feedback, and listening to what you folks are after. Our server team is constantly working to improve the realms. These things take time to do right, but we're working on them as best we can. :)
