The Lost, or Draenei, as their name suggests, are originally from the world of Draenor -- the selfsame land where the Orcs once dwelled.

The Forsaken are not bound to the will of the Lich King as are the Scourge, Lorber. A beast and a humanoid are made, physically, of the same material, and operate in the same capacity, but the minds are different -- what works on a beast (say, sleep) may not affect a humanoid due to that difference. The same holds true for Forsaken vs. Undead. The spells do not affect the Forsaken.
For a simple answer on totems, the elder Shamans were keenly aware that simple, fragile totems would be worthless in a raging battle with hundreds of pounding feet, no doubt as easily destroyed by friend as foe. Because of this, they wove a simple protective magic around these talismans. While they were protected against environmental damage, a focused attack would cut through the enchantment. Expending more will on the protection of these devices would distract the Shaman, so they settled for this compromise.[ post edited by Caydiem ]

Actually, you can find Druid of the Talon NPCs. The Disciples of Naralex in the Barrens and Wailing Caverns are members of that sect (as well as Naralex himself). :)

Q u o t e: Okay, yeah, so there's those guys in the wailing caverns. Granted. But!
I mean Night Elf, non-corrupt, turning into a stormcrow and flying around the moonglade type druids. Everything in the moonglade seems centered around Druids of the Claw, minus a few shrines and Nighthaven.
Naralex is asleep, not corrupt. :P

Q u o t e: Okay, then bring him to the moonglade, then cool.
The Druids tend the world as a whole, not just Moonglade. Naralex sleeps within Wailing Caverns, and Disciples are located around the cave to deal with the unnatural anomalies, the "deviates", that have cropped up there. They're doing their Druidic duty, something they would not be doing twiddling their thumbs with a glut of other Druids in Moonglade.

Q u o t e: Errr . .. actually, all but one of his Disciples inside the caverns have become part of the problem - ie, Druids of the Fang.
Also, since the deviate corruption has mostly involved making things serpentine, it seems that Naralex is mostly dreaming about snakes. What would Freud say about that I wonder?
I was referring to the ones directly outside also, which are still his Disciples and still working to eradicate the menace. Most people don't find them on their first go, but they're there. :)
