It just seems to me that WSG CTF seems sylized after Id's sort of standard CTF. The powerups seem to share a likeness with Quake 3 Arena.
The berzerker powerup = Quad damage(sort of)
Speed boots = Haste
Regeneration = Regeneration
All we need now is rocket launchers, railguns, and BFGs!
I do always enjoy WSG because to me it very much feels like Quake3 all over agian, but with WoW characters.
I wonder if Id games had any influence on BG.

Most everyone on the design team (or here at the studio for that matter) is familiar and enjoys a variety of games which exist in several genres, including first-person shooters. When designing Battlegrounds, it was important to incorporate elements which we felt made the game more interesting, and enhanced what was currently available to players in a player vs. player environment, so it isn't at all unlikely that some of those things may be similar to what you've seen and enjoyed when playing other games, even those that weren't MMORPGs.

CTF, while appealing to many, has no legitimate place inside WoW. It's more of a bonus game than anything having to do with the world itself, put into place to keep action junkies happy and as a distraction to divert people's attention away from the fact that there are a whole (now) two "Raid content" zones, that only took a year to be finished. One of which is barely playable in it's current form.
