The sharing of accounts is not recommended and not supported. The minute you give your password to someone, you have given them the ability to cause damage to your characters, items, and your account information in such a way that it may be difficult to fully recover. We unfortunately must assist people on a regular basis who gave out their password to "friends" that later stole items, gold, and even deleted characters. Of course, we do have procedures to assist you in recovering these things on a limited basis (including deleted characters,), but you may not be able to get everything back.
To address your question directly, there's not really any harm in letting someone else try out your character if it's under your direct supervision, just be certain you do not give out your password. In addition to the security risks and problems we've already mentioned, it is still technically a violation of the Terms of Use, which only permit account sharing between a parent and a minor. You can review the full Terms of Use here:

Now..... as for your 3 cats..... well, all we'll say is..... don't get too attached. =)
