I foresee gold farmers becoming a real problem in the World Of Warcraft's future, and if you guys do not nip this problem in the bum now, then it will be too late, later.
I'm sure you know of other games where this got out of hand, and probably caused the failure of said games and stirred up alot of frustration in the player base causing them to eventually have a bad taste in their mouth about the game. This bad taste could happen to WoW (i know i feel it building from various problems stacking) it's how mmo's fail, problem after problem stacks up and eventually the player snaps and has disgust for the game they use to love.
My proposal would be too force-transfer anyone who has a non-US ip address to a server closest to them, like a server in Europe, China, or Korea. I don't know if the Aussys have a server yet so let them hang in the U.S ones for awhile longer till they get up and running.
The only counter arguement to this is "Well i'm from x country and I like my U.S friends, etc etc."
Well too darn bad, this is a problem, and serves the greater good in the end, besides you'll like your 100 ping better than your 500-800 ;)
You can't expect us, the player base, to police these farmers and report them hackers@blizzard.com, we don't have the means, the time, nor the inclination to waste our free time which we want to use for fun tracking these farmers (that probably are good at disguising themselves and patterns).
Please do something, also read my other posts they have good stuff in them.[ post edited by Xtal ]

Some good points in this thread, but consider this as well.
What separates between a gold farmer, and a grinder. Maybe the guy needs to get his epic mount, or he isn't answering questions because he's tired, or letting his 6 year old play the game.
Then can we have GMs follow around all players accused of farming and make a decision call on whether they are farming, or grinding?
Farming is not how we approach this issue. We focus on the selling and buying of gold within the game.

Q u o t e: Did I read that right? We can allow other people to play OUR characters? That coming from a CM is funny.
From the Terms of Use:
Q u o t e: You represent that you are a 'natural person' who is over the age of eighteen (18) years old, or over the age of majority in the country where you are a citizen, and agree to these Terms of Use on behalf of yourself and, at your discretion, for one (1) minor child for whom you are a parent or guardian and whom you have authorized to use the account you create on the Service (the "Account").
I fail to see the amusement in Tyren's statement, though the same cannot be said for others. :)
