I would really like an ETA on when we will be able to transfer characters. I have a lvl 50 that I would like to transfer rather than starting over at lvl 1 to play with a long time friend on another server. I would rather invest the time leveling from 50 to 60 rather than from 1 to 60.
Please please give us a timeframe to base our character creation decisions on.

While I do not have an ETA for you, I can say that, with the advent of new realms, we're firing up the ol' realm transfer process and they should become available for select realms in the near future.
There are other options under development, but we'd rather not say much about them until they're closer to fruition. :)

Q u o t e: and you know what your so good "new server" does? It make people leave low pop servers. On firetree we saw entire GUILDS grab the newest server released. Then there is less people to play with, and thus they either go on the new server, or be smart and know that those new servers will end just like the other new realms. So they join... high pop servers who exist since a long time and wont die. So everytime you release a new server, low pop servers suffer. If only people would come on low pop servers... if only you could FILL the existing servers before creating one. 99 servers... are you proud of that? Are you proud you just made firetree an even lower pop server?
Its cool to have 99 servers, but if there is 1 person per server then its not...
Every realm -- including Firetree -- is at least Medium population at peak times. While you may not believe this is the case, the fact of the matter is that we needed the capacity that two new realms provide. We review the numbers carefully over a long period of time before we release new realms; this was not a decision made in haste. We're going to be offering solutions, such as realm transfers, to help alleviate the disparity (yes, that's my word of the day, folks) between the two extremes of realm population, but it is not as bad as you make it out to be. :)
