How long has it been now that we heard that the 8 Debuff limit was being looked into and will be addressed?
The ammount of things that count as "debuffs" is staggering.
Lets see it from a "Debuffing player's" point of view:
My main damage comes from 3 DoTs, (some have 4) and the occasional Nuke.
But... due to the 8 Debuff limit.. in a raid setting, warlocks are limited to 2 things, Curse of Shadows and Shadowbolt.
Why? Because our damage over time spells use the exact same "debuff" slots as:
Taunts, Deep wounds, Hunter Stings, Sunder Armor, Expose Armor, Poisons, Icy Chill and Unholy weapon enchants, Various Weapon Procs like Gutgore Ripper, Skulforge Reaver, Any Curses, Fears, Channeled Damage spells, Talent Procs (like improved shadowbolt), Engineering items (shrink ray), silences, and a slew of other things that are ALL considered "debuffs".
What I propose is a sort of "categorization" of debuffs, with 8 slots in each category. (Note this list is in no sort of order of importance)
1. Curses
2. Magic Damage
3. Weapon Procs
4. Physical Damage
5. Poison/Sting Damage
6. Charm/Fear/Silence
7. Taunts
8. Armor Debuffs
Because as it stands right now... no class can live up to it's fullest potential on raid level bosses, simply due to the 8 debuff limit being so terribly restricting.
