Around a Week Ago I was petitioning for a new PvP Server to be introduced, after a few threads went by you made the sticky about current underpopulation.
Afterwards I looked into the underpopulated servers and decided to roll on Spirestone, one of the newer and less populated servers. Now Level 25 on my Elf Warrior, I see some serious problems. This is a post to inquire about the status of a few current solutions.
1) High to Low Population Universal Transfers
The problem with specific Realm to Realm transfers is that most times you don't know anyone on the server you're transfering to, many don't have a reason to do such. I was on Arthas with my level 60 and I didn't know anyone on Natherzheim, no way would I have transfered. However, I would have willingly transfered to one of the servers in trouble that I had friends on. Alot, ALOT of people have higher population servers and the people on them, however you don't solve a problem with another problem. Transfering from a server with people you dont like to a server with no one you know doesn't make sense.
2) Server Mergers
Many people have been petitioning for a Spirestone/Frostmane server transfer since they are the two most in trouble and are also started at the same time. I know this is possible, if you can't simply merge them you could transfer all the characters from one to the other with a chance of renaming it. There are some technical/social problems with this but I think it would be more benefit than harm.
3) Some sort of incentive
Give people on high population servers who are fed up with them some sort of reason to reroll, I had my reasons but many people don't and simply quit instead of rerolling. I don't have any real suggestions here but I'm not an employee either, I'm sure Blizzard does.
This is arguably the biggest issue in WoW right now, the classes are quite balanced and pvp with battlegrounds and honor is great. Server balance and population seems to be the hot issue, there have to be solutions. I'm simply trying to get the discussion of the SOLUTIONS started, not the discussion of the problem. Can you please respond Fangtooth? Thanks in advance.
P.S- Get your friends in Westfall to stop patrolling, it's very hard to solo there because half of the murlocs patrol and zerg you. Greatly appreciated ;)

1.) Realm transfers have been done in the past, and we are planning on doing them again in the future. As for choosing the realm you transfer to, I am not sure. I know it is being discussed but no more information besides that.
2.) I have not heard anything about server merging.
3.) The incentive for starting over on another realm would be a chance to start over, less populated realms give you a better chance to make a name for yourself and a smaller community to game with.
P.S. - As soon as people stop farming my relatives for their eyes, fins, and fun, we will stop patrolling!
