Just a few ideas I'de like to say. If you just read and exit whatever but I really think this woiuld boost moral and that feeling we got when the game was released for those who aren't feeling it anymore with community and content.
Idea #1: Very simple idea really. All the forum Blue ppl, announce in a thread what server they play on or start on a new server (namely should be low popuation servers) and play the game with everyone. Have the devs implement a nice chat window for you gusy only to keep up with messages.
On each of these servers, host events made up by your own thoughts and ideas. Whether it be raiding a zone (not an instance) having a race or whatever it maybe.
Idea #2: More in depth than the other. Would require a lot to setup.
Hire (In this I mean make monthly fees free as payment for these dedicated people) players to be in-game to be a part of this. Here's my idea.
One player on each side on each server (Would be around 200 or so players hired) These 2 players will have AIM contact and somehow be in-game oriented or even have a forum for this in each realm forum.
Heres what they do. They will be called something like "War makers" (lame name but an ex.) What they do is every three days (This is one of there jobs) they host a very very big war in a particular zone. Gather 2 or 3 raid groups and each side has a meeting point. When the clock hits a certain time, the two sides engage and its a free for all battle. (Ya its like BG but it happens in Azeroth and not just in the BG instance)
When one team has complete domination over the other side, they are deemed the victors and something is posted in there realm forum saying "The Horde Is Victorious!"
Another job these hired players would have is forming a guild on each side. There would be two websites made. One for horde and one for alliance which will be shared for each server. Same name and everything. This guild will host numerous events for all levels including helping people quest/level and in game assistance on new players. Players who are interested in joining must apply on that server and go on a trial to see if they are deemed fit. They also get a unique tabard because they are helping the community.
Just a few ideas that would be good for the community.

Idea #1 is a good idea, and it is already in effect. We all have characters on the realms, we just don't announce who we are. We play the game, get in random pick up groups, run all the instances, are part of guilds, etc. We all love the game very much and more often than not hop in the game when we get home from work =P
Idea #2 is also a great idea, but is not something that is going to happen. With the amount of people playing the game, there are plenty of skirmishes and all out wars breaking out all the time. Having a couple of War Makers would not make all that much of a difference I don't think. I don't remember the last time I played with out someone organizing a raid on an Alliance town, or calls to defend a Horde town.

At this time I have not heard of any plans to merge realms. The realm populations are always being monitored, so if any changes will be made we will be sure to give you ample warning.
