Subject: Blizzard Patcher
Ok, I'm going to add to the complaints about this. Is it really necessary for the patcher to alter every game file every time there is a patch? The 1.4.2 patch fixed one thing and took 10 minutes to patch on my laptop (laptop hard drives are slow) because it decided it was going to alter every file.

The files representing the bulk of the data on your install (the MPQ files, excluding patch.MPQ) should never be altered. The game executable can be changed during patching, and revised versions of items stored in the original unmodified MPQ's get transferred to the patch.MPQ, but the rest of the data should never be rewritten. Do you see evidence to the contrary?

Every item that gets changed in a patch is changed for a reason, and we make every effort to minimize the net size of those patches, but new content and features take new data (and bug fixes often do too).
