To begin, let me just say, that I have no use for PvP or Battlegrounds. I actually LIKE completing quests and developing tradeskills.
That being said, it has come to my attention that the Tailoring bug was present on the so-called "Test Server" before the last patch was released. It was also something in that patch that broke Tailoring to begin with.
I know that people have said that there are work arounds for this and there are other more important bugs to be fixed first, but NONE of them have been fixed since the last patch. Why not fix something as simple as Tailoring in the Tuesday maintenance?
If I had of known Tailoring would not be fixed for well over a month, I may seriously have considered not renewing my subscription. Not because it's a TAILORING bug, but because if this is the approach that Blizzard is going to take with minor bug fixes, now, and in the future, then what faith can I have in this game to fix anyhting important?
Why do I have to wait until the next major content patch for some text to be changed to a different colour?
It boggles my mind and it should boggle yours too because you have to defend these actions, or should I say, lack thereof.
Cheers.

It is not something that can be hotfixed. It requires a patch, and as it's part of 1.5, it's not something that can be split off easily. 1.5 is close to live release now and as such the tailoring bug should be fixed soon.

Q u o t e: It just SEEMS as though anything that can be considered an exploit is hotfixed, and anything else isn't looked at for weeks, or even months.
How can it be that every single bug is client side and every single exploit isnt?
Most of the exploits in question have to do with numbers in the database that can be fixed on the fly.
The tailoring issue, however, is purely a client problem, which is not something we can fix without changing the files on your computer (and thus requiring a patch).

Q u o t e: I don't think I can be any clearer but I can try.
This isn't a "Fix Tailoring" post. I used Tailoring as an example. It's a "why do we have to wait so long for minor bug fixes?" post.
By the way, NOWHERE in my post do I mention "Hot Fix." I know that a patch is in order and a small pacth is something that should be produced when things like this go wrong.
Small patches aren't quite as simple to create as you might believe. :) If we split out content from a major patch, we need to make certain we get all related changes out of the initial large patch. Then we need to test that patch on its own, separate from the current one in QA, and make any changes necessary (thus further taking away from developer time).
I know it seems like it would be simple at the heart of it, but splitting such things off would result in an even longer development cycle on the whole.

Q u o t e: How does something like this get changed to begin with? Isn't that pretty negligent of your programmers to do something like this?
The tailoring bug?
World of Warcraft, underneath it all, is a huge bundle of code. Changing one thing can sometimes have an inadvertant effect on something else entirely. We catch most of them, but unfortunately there are times when something like that slips through. :/
