Subject: Yes Master, May I Have Another?
That's where we are now with Blizzard regarding server performance and reliability.

At one point in the past I actually thought Blizzard was working to improve their infrastructure. Now I'm convinced that they're not doing anything to try to make their stuff more reliable and less laggy.

The massive amounts of PvP that are going on now further aggravate this problem.

It's such a crying shame that Blizzard has a pretty good game, but that game is hardly playable sometimes. Frequent unplanned service interruptions, performance (lag) problems, extended outages during planned service, etc. etc. ...

But it's been this way so long now, I think most people have just accepted that it's just how it is.

Someone at Blizzard needs to be fired. I'm betting it's someone in management. I know there are talented, capable network admins, Oracle DBAs, and developers out there. I'm betting Blizzard even has some. I imagine they're being hindered by some bad strategic (or financial) decisions from above. Such a pity.

This genre isn't how it use to be. There is real and increasing competition. Blizzard has broken records with its sales and subscription numbers, but it won't maintain its status if it doesn't get up to speed on the actual service side. I won't name the other MMORPGs, but there's fair competition. And if anything, Blizzards great sales/subscription success will fuel development of more of these games.

Blah blah. I'm just frustrated. I log in and hope to pvp a little, but it's like a slideshow when 30+ alliance meets 30+ horde. Tactics go out the window. It becomes an aoe lagfest, until that glorious moment where everyone gets kicked to char selection screen, and then World Server Down for a couple of minutes. Same old story. Service still stinks as it did in December.

We know that most of our players don't have bleeding edge machines (I know I don't). That is why our programmers will continue to streamline code throughout the entire course of the game. This is their top priority. Obviously the Honor System has helped them identify a few areas that they can improve upon, and they have already made some improvements.
