What der heck does 'proc' mean?

Also, kiting means to keep someone at range through stuns/roots, right?

Thanks, I see these words all the time but I am not MMORPG PVP nerd #45946 and I don't know what they mean for sure. :(

   Proc is when an item has a special skill going off. When the skill activates it is called Proccing.

KITing is Kill In Time. You do damage to a creature while running around not letting it hurt you. The most common ways are with Rooting and DOTing, etc.
