Subject: CMs -- urgent matter re: bannings please read
[[ Edit: Community Managers, please read further down in the other posts and page 2 as well, I think there's something seriously wrong with the game's character clocking software code --- kindly, just ask the server team to analyze it - not asking for ban reversals -- just EXAMINE the code, please.]]

I am posting from a friend's computer (and his account)....

This is a serious question posed to any people who may have had friends or guild members suddenly banned for no apparent reason --- are there any out there?

I am asking because I have a suspicion that WoW may have a defective "cheat" detection software in the game --- or just odd bevahiour in the code.

My account was banned and shutdown permanently yesterday for apparently using "third party" programs or "packet sniffers" to make my character go faster (this is what the email I received says).

Whether people believe me or not is irrelevant, but I KNOW I didn't use these things or any exploits (hell, I don't even use third party user interfaces like most people do) ---- the only thing I can conclude from this is that the server's built-in cheat detection is malfunctioning somehow (or a malicious GM? -- that's very unlikely though).

I saw posts earlier today as well that two other people were banned and they don't understand why --- this has lead me to believe even more so that there may be something seriously wrong with WoW's anti-cheating software (or whatever it is).

I've contacted blizzard about it to plead my case, but I have no delusions that my account will ever be enabled again (and I have no plans to buy a new account after some 5 months of effort thrown out the window by WoW's detection errors).

I implore anyone who knows someone who was mysteriously banned to speak up -- there may be quite a few people unjustly banned in the last day or two and blizzard should perhaps re-examine their data collected on these accounts to verify whether or not they were in fact cheating.

Blizz -- that's all I'm asking -- double check the data -- there maybe a bug in your own system --- just take a bit of time and examine -- I believe you maybe unfairly banning innocent players.

Self-righteous, arrogrant brats may now commence their flaming here -- please fill out flame forms 92-c and B-12-A to ensure your prattling is properly catalogued.

Thank you.

(and I'm gone - farewell folks, I had fun while it lasted, but I have neither the strength nor patience to fight blizzard's mistake here --- it's a good game and I hope it works out well for everyone -- for me, I guess it had rather ironic timing as I was getting a littly weary with the game after all these months, so it may be as good a time as any to move on to other games. Have fun everyone, and I hope nobody else receives a permanent, unexplained banning)

Brunore - Feathermoon server.

Players, game bans are not issued because something happened 1 time. A player who is suspected of hacking is investigated over a series of incidents and reviewed and then banned.

We have a team dedicated to investigating and reviewing hacks. It's not that hard to detect a certain pattern of behavior.

That being said, always, always contact WoWGMFeedback-US@blizzard.com and explain to them clearly and concisely what happened, and they will do their best to investigate the issue.
