Advise the techs to take all the servers down for a day and fix all the problems with the lag and disconnects rather than occasionally rebooting or having the servers crash. Hell, take it down for a week if it takes it.

While I do appreciate the sentiment behind this suggestion, what you propose would not necessarily fix anything.
I know it may seem like a good idea, but many of the issues you see do not show up at all until the realm is under a considerable amount of load. There are ways to simulate that to an extent, but not to the point players do. If you cannot see the problem, then it's very difficult to fix.
We are not idle when it comes to the latency issues you're experiencing. We're working on a variety of solutions, but they're not immediate fixes. I ask that you bear with us in the meantime.
