So far, up until noon PDT, the forums were flowing. Moving. Generating ideas. Most were good posts. A few were not. Then noon comes along and Cay waltzes in and starts locking threads.
No information is posted into good threads. No new threads are created with information. Just locked threads. And it's all Cay doing that. Ordinn was in this morning with a couple locked threads, but also some information and a vauge promise to talk to some people. Better than locked threads I say.
The other thing that is irksome is that Cay seems to follow a random set of rules when locking threads. She locked a couple on hardware problems but yet a few others remain open. She locked one about a poll asking people about their real lives, but left one about a guy's gf open. All of these are on the main page, so it's not like one has to go out of the way to see them.
And chances are this thread will get locked too.
I see no support from these forums. I see a lot of unanswered questions, grief and the want of the CMs to create some sort of regime where they can control what you talk about and how. It seems to me that it's an abuse of power.
Oh..I just saw that a request by someone to get people to simply check out the off-topic forum was locked.
"Don't post about locked threads" because then someoene might actually realize what's happening. God forbid the CMs take their own adivce and "let the thread stand on its own merit". That way they can work on getting us information instead of playing the lockdown game when they come in.

I am more forum-focused than Ordinn or Tyren. While they will lock heinous offenses, I (along with Eyonix and Fangtooth) moderate in accordance with every aspect of the Code of Conduct. If you would like your thread to stay open and your discussion to continue, the best way for that to happen is to post in the right forum and to follow the rules to which you agreed.
Now, I come in later than some to be here during the forum's busiest time -- as such, my coming is usually heralded by a few locks. :P That is the result of my first preliminary scan of the forums for the day. I do not hunker down in one thread and read it first thing; I scan over the forums, take care of the threads that should not run any longer than necessary due to Code of Conduct violations, and then begin my reading/feedback gathering/responding circuit.
I do apologize if you feel that this is disruptive, however, there needs to be some order on this forum. Ideally I would never have to lock a thread. Unfortunately, some folks do not choose to follow the policy to which they agreed, and I have to take action.

Aknot, you already posted about that, and I already responded.
