The recent changes to unique pets and their unique properties don't affect me, but I'm a big-hearted guy who just loves a game wherein everyone has fun. Now, I don't know a lot about these changes, as I'm not a hunter, but I have a fairly visceral reaction to what I've heard about these changes.
The bottom line for me is this: unique creatures, and the tracking and taming of them for their advantages, should be a MAJOR (Forgive the caps.) factor of the Hunter class. Period. No deviations accepted.
Now, when I started this game as a wee lad, and ran across my first unique creatures, I actually ASSUMED (Oh Murloc, withhold thy wrath from yon caps.) that these were designed as Hunter-specific challenges. Princess, Bellygrub, Snarler, Gammerita...whatever.
I don't want to get into a major technical debate about what happens if pets have imbalancing resistances or abilities. My point is this:
Have unique pets in the game, and BALANCE THEM IF YOU MUST.
I don't care if a Hunter has a sweet pet with some resistances or whatever. No problem. If a hunter enjoys his game, or works long hours to procure a nice pet for himself....REWARD HIM.
Now, some might say that Warlocks will suffer in comparison, and to that I respond....PLEASE ISSUE SERIOUS LOVING TO WARLOCKS POSTHASTE!!
The difference though between Warlock demons and Hunter pets is that Hunters tend to stick with one that suits their style. This is partially a game mechanic issue as well.
My Gin-and-Tonic-powered conclusion is: implement unique pets for Hunters. Now. No debate. This is a good thing.[ post edited by Isstvan ]
