I have read your responses to many posts saying that there is no way to move a char to another server. I figgured that you guys do this every day and that you know what you are doing better than i do.
then i read about the test servers for the new content patch and it was stated that those invited to participate would have their chars copied to the new servers and that they would have everything.
What is the difference from moving a char to a test server than to a new server? I hope that there is still something I don't understand about the situation.
I understand that precautions must be taken, for example it wouldn't be fair for a person to make a char on a pve server to power lvl and then move to a pvp server where he/she could harrass lower lvl chars without having had the same risk while they were leveling. also it wouldn't be fair to move a lvl 60 to a brand new server when everyone else is just starting. Also to keep it fair once a person moves one char from one server to another any NEW char they make on the server they have moved from would not be alowed to change.
I think that if rules created thoughtfully we could find a system that would work to help the people on the high population servers, while still providing a fair enviornment for all others.
Thanks in advance for your clarification and other ideas on rules that would make these transfers fair.

I've answered this before...
We do plan on offering character transfers. However, the test realm copy process operates somewhat differently, and we have to make sure that process works in all situations. Also, there were some kinks that needed to be worked out in the copy to the Test Realm (Hunters did not have their pets, for example).
So the answer is that we're testing the process now and hope to offer it in its first iteration (high-population to low-population transfers across the same ruleset) soon.
