Subject: Warcraft Weekly - One Year Of WoW
   YOU SPOONY BARD!

What - Why - When

The block on character creation has been lifted! Hordes of newbies from around Azeroth flock to insult Thundy(http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general-en&t=830204) for being so slow. The reason for the blocking was previously to stop full realms becoming overpopulated, but now that problem has been solved with the help of some upgrades(Death to Microsoft!), new realms(With funny names) and mysterious player deaths(Moo). The only realms now blocked are ones affected by migration or the Ahn'Qiraj event. Currently Destromath and Eitrigg.

What's this(http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general-en&t=832875)!? Vaneras has leaked some ninja patchnotes to us from 1.8.3. Nobody stealths past us Dwarf Hunters! These are the sneaky little buggers:
  • Nefarian's reset should now consistently be 15 minutes regardless of what phase your raid may have wiped out on
  • The High Priests, High Priestesses, and Jin'do the Hexxer will now drop their epic items more often. Some of the rarest items from Zul'Gurub such as the Warblade of the Hakkari and Zulian Swift Tiger can now also be found a bit more frequently
  • Zul'Gurub coin and bijou drops were increased
  • The stats on the Tier 1 Mage and Warlock sets (Arcanist and Felheart) have been changed
  • You now have to be out of combat to open a chest

The Pallys, Shaman and Druids have long been disadvantaged by a missing ranged weapon slot. Not because of the weapon itself, but the statistical benefits. Well, Vaneras informs(http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general-en&t=837558) us that they are getting their own speshul slot for 'Relics'. Druids get 'Idols', Pallys get 'Librams' and Shaman get 'Totems'. Here's some examples:
  • Idol of Rejuvination - Requires level 57 - Equip: Increases the healing per 3 seconds on your Rejuvenation by up to 10
  • Totem of Rebirth - Requires level 57 - Equip: Reduces the cooldown of your Reincarnation ability by 10 minutes.
  • Libram of Hope - Requires level 57 - Equip: Reduces the mana cost of your Seal spells by 20

    Ding!

Tis a happy day for WoW, for now it has been running in Europe for one whole year!

For a moment, push back the whines and gripes in your mind, and embrace your playing experience. No matter which way you look at it, WoW is the most popular MMO on the market, something that will take a long long time to change. WoW is beautiful, challenging, and most importantly: Fun! Instead of demanding more, look at what you have already got. A large number of you(Myself included) have been playing for a year now, and judging by the fact that you're still playing, I'd have to say you probably enjoy it as much as I do.

Celebrate in your own style. Because that's just it, why WoW is so popular: No matter how you want to play, there is always an option made for you. Have a big party in a major city with your faction, with fireworks, booze and Night Elf Females. Hang out with your guild and just chat. Go on a killing spree around the world, fighting all sorts of exotic monsters and players. Or just find a tranquil spot somewhere secluded and admire the view with video settings on full. Sure it's just a game, but a game is only ever as good as a player makes it.

Throughout this year, I have seen quite a few changes to the community in general. The biggest change was one I never expected. We don't suck. Sure there's the odd bad egg, but generally we play nice now. Whether in-game, on the forums or hanging in IRC, it isn't hard to find a helping hand if you're stuck, a friend to chat with if you're feeling down, or even a fellow imbecile to laugh at your corny jokes. This is a sense of community that is very rare in games, even today.

Oh, and here's the official word(http://forums-en.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?ForumName=wow-general-en&ThreadID=834327) - And the important info:
  • In patch 1.11: Naxxramas! -- the massive necropolis floating above Stratholme, home to Kel'Thuzad
  • More content tailored for casual level 60 players
  • Greater focus on outdoor PvP
  • Talent improvements for the remaining classes; Shaman, Rogue and Mage
  • More world events and holidays
  • Fee-based character transfers
  • Improved forums and web sites, including more interactive content such as the PvP Honor rankings and the Ahn'Qiraj War Effort pages
  • A new data centre and continual upgrading of the existing ones to accommodate for the tremendous growth in Europe

And of course, it wouldn't be a special event without the contests(http://www.wow-europe.com/en/contests/oneyear/index.html). Win a Dell PC, a Video Card, or a Kustom IPod depending on your trade and skill. Good luck to you all.

    I Wub U

Something is in the air in the major cities of Azeroth. Some call it love, and some just call it friendship and admiration. Whichever it is, many guards and townsfolks now spend their days giving and receiving tokens and gifts to other amorous citizens.

Just days after the Lunar Festival, we have another event. How's that for service? Love is in the air(http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/loveisintheair/) is the valentines day festival. There's only two days left(wednesday) so hurry!

The first feature is 'Gift Exchange'. You can buy Perfume, Cologne and Love Tokens from Innkeeps. Male NPCs(http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/loveisintheair/images/ss5.jpg) like the perfume, Female NPCs(http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/loveisintheair/images/ss3.jpg) like cologne. When you wear the appropriate scent, you can give them love tokens. They will either reciprocate with cool items, or turn you down.

The second feature is a popularity contest. Use the gifts from the first to cast a vote for your favorite Faction Leader. Get a Faction Gift Collection item to the strange flying gobbo to cast your vote. /kiss it too for a buff.

    Time waits for no orc

In the lives of most mortals, time is nothing more but a simple hourglass, its sands quietly trickling away. Only few ever realize that in truth, time rages like a storm, untamed and chaotic.

The Brood of Nozdormu(Bronze Dragons) are waging war on the Qiraji. Those brave enough to assist them in their efforts will be rewarded well. The rewards are vast(http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/factions/nozdormu/index.html), with some delectable epics available for those that complete quests for the BoN and generally kill bugs. The class rewards are available in exchange for quest items, while the rings are free to those who are on good terms with the Bronze Dragonflight.
