In our ongoing efforts to provide the best online gaming experience and to improve performance on the realms listed below we will block players who do not currently have characters on the realms from creating new ones. This is part of several planned improvements for these realms to address the recent performance issues. This block is planned to be a temporary measure until further improvements are complete and we will continue to update players over the coming weeks as the situation progresses.

That is exactly why we've been very reluctant to use this in the past. The situation right now calls for such hard choices though, and it's a temporary change.

Umm.. why is Turalyon on the list, being listed as medium pop, yet I can create on Arathor - listed as "full"?
It's all realms in the most loaded data center, whether they individually are high or low populated.

It's to prevent the total population on these realms from growing, and thus slow down the growth of the queues and maybe even shorten them a bit (barring changes in the realm caps). Queues may still grow (as they did yesterday) due to existing players on the realms playing more often and longer, no doubt much due to the war effort race.

We don't expect the character creation to have a huge impact, as it doesn't really lower the amount of players online. It's a more long-term way of addressing the issue. Nonetheless, every bit helps.

The effect is to not get more players on the realm, thus allowing everyone to make 1 character would defy the purpose of the block.

It would be extremely tricky to restrict migration to people having friends joining, and we currently have no system to support open migration from all realms.

It's not to address queues. It's to address the total population on the data center.
