Subject: Blizzard's attitudes to forums
I'm sorry but I have to say this once, and once only. I am angry at the fact that Blizzard employees running these forums that are supposed to deal with technical issues and solve people's problems are just not being mature enough in how they approach the whole issue.

The "blues" as many refer to them are not doing their job properly. For goodness sake - I do not expect and many others as well to write a note on the forum's highlighting an issue of great importance for the WHOLE GAMING COMMUNITY for it just to be put into a cupboard and never seen again. I expect to GET THE SUPPORT I PAY FOR.

Instead of Blizzard employees replying to topics such as:

Funniest names ever
Dumbest names ever
Famous last words
What is the meaning of Pig article
Name your server
You know you've played too much wow when

I do not expect also a blizzard employee to be swearing as part of his signature:

"That there is one damn fine epic you're wearin'."
- Thundgot

I also don't expect Blizzard employees to be paid to watch jokes at our expense while there are many with technical issues/complaints and other FAR MORE IMPORTANT things to players and the GENERAL GAMING COMMUNITY. I disagree greatly with the attitude that is taken by many Blizzard employees towards a service they are offering AND CHARGING PEOPLE FOR:

"Dare I say I had a very good laugh reading that? Oops. Guess I did. ;p"
- Thundgot

I don't expect someone working for Blizzard to explain their "attitude" towards their paying customers or to explain what they do all day.

I respectfully disagree, and think we're mature, dedicated and professional enough in handling these forums and the community as a whole. We're doing our job, and our superiors agree with that. That our job might not meet your expectations of it or produce the results you'd like is another matter indeed, but that's hardly an issue of immaturity or failing in performing in our given work.

Responding to "silly" threads, laughing with the players and showing humor and personality, even balancing on the line of swearing ("damn" is hardly a harsh swearword - I wouldn't even give a verbal warning for it to a player) when modifying a movie quote for my signature... it's all being part of the community. You'll even find us saying "sig", "QFT" and "learn to aim ;)", instead of "signature", "that's correct" and "we apologise for this grave injustice". We're community people. We're part of, and level with, the community. That's very much our job.

Also, note that our posts in the threads you list are made over some time, not today, this week or even the last month. Those replies also take about 30 seconds to make on average. Even put together they deduct absolutely nothing from the hours we spend working on improvements for the community, gathering and evaluating realm and forum statistics, bringing your concerns to the appropriate people and try have public responses to them, supporting the fan sites, checking guild sites and forums, moderating these forums, planning events, coordinating new realms and migration, etc.

I'll add that the thread about the "Pig article" is a valid concern brought up by players. While our intentions with linking to the article was a bit misunderstood, and many players responded to that thread that it was a non-issue, I hardly think it's fair of you to brush those players' concern off as unworthy of our response. Are other concerns more worthy? That's up to each reader.

This is an extremely diverse community, and I have no illusion of pleasing everyone all the time. I'm in no way offended by your post, but I wish you'd take a step back and look at the whole (and hopefully see it a bit differently, of course). There are informative threads on top of the forum which we put many hours into getting for you (*insert credit to those helping us*). There are changes in the patch that are a result of your feedback gathered by us. There is migration starting on the tenth week soon that we have been involved in since before it started. Allow us to make some silly posts in-between too.

Thanks. :)
That there is one damn fine epic you're wearin'.

Q u o t e:
Blizzards attitude towards forums?

Read this:

It pretty much summons up how Blizzard Europe feel about their customers.

I would like you to read this thread, which is also a part of the very incident you refer to:
