Subject: Patch tomorrow?
I know that there are people linking to the US forums where they say they have the patch
downloading etc.

But it would be nice to know (from a Blue if possible) - are we definately getting the 1.9 patch
tomorrow?

I only ask because this makes a huge difference to our (and probably alot of others) guilds raiding schedules tonight.

2. US got patch today and we allways get it one day later

QFT ;)

Of course, if patching in the US turns the server hamsters into ogres (too big to fit in the wheels) or bring down the wrath of unnamed gods on the US realms we'll reconsider patching in Europe until such minor bugs are fixed. ;)

Thundgot,

Why couldn't you tell us earlier that the patch is due tomorrow? Is it some kind of secret? Why did you have to wait until everybody knew about it being uploaded in the States before confirming it?

Small things like that make people, and me personally, have no respect for you as a person and as a professional.

We (Blizzard) generally don't give patch ETAs. Not even an hour before it arrives. It's coming when it's coming. If this company policy makes you have a negative impression of me as a person or professional I think it says more about you than me.

Edit: and you knew at the same time as the US players, meaning you have more prior warning about the patch arriving on your realm. I'd say that's a good thing for you, not a bad thing. ;)

When you change things around it would be nice to know that the insance resets will behave differently, and thus we will (and I assume more guilds) have to make some changes to our schedule regarding the raiding, going into effect tonight.

A very good point with the instance resets. I'll make sure to point it out when we next discuss giving patch ETAs.

You translated the point I made into: "I want info in advance". This is not what I said. When you are asked a direct question, why the hell is it hard to give a direct answer?

For example, I would never say to my flatmate that I paid my Mastercard bill, but if he asks "Have you paid this months Mastercard bill" I will reply with a "Yes I have" (even though it's not his business) because there's nothing wrong with sharing this information.

I (we) don't expect you to give out information that is not of our business, but a direct question regarding the patch being due in 12 hours or a week or whatever can be answered, I don't find it to be a big deal.

I very much understand that players would like to have numbers (like realm caps) and ETAs. We choose not to give them out, however, for reasons I'm not at the liberty to divulge or discuss.

That you ask a direct question doesn't mean we'll suddenly change our policy. I can't think of any information right now that falls into a "don't say it unless you get a direct question" category.
