Me and several other people from the "Please open new realms for new players"-thread would really appreciate a little bit of information on just how far you are in the descision making process on whether or not to launch new servers?
Consider it a bone for the (hungry) dogs :)
I'm sure we, as customers, can't really get a good insight into when such an event would take place, but several good points have been stressed.
So in short: We'd really appreciate a(ny) little piece of information on whether it's even on the horizon right now! So please give us what you can![ post edited by Sai ]

Q u o t e: It won't be closed because it's not a spamfest.
Correct. :)
Haumarush was a special case, as it was the first new realm in a very long time, and it was opened alone. Until that time we were even more restrictive on opening new realms. Realms opened later have not seen the same huge queues.
As for where we are in the process: it's always ongoing. We continually track the realm population numbers and consider opening new realms. Usually these decisions are made early in the week (looking at the weekend numbers) and new realms opened Wednesday or Friday.
Holiday numbers are notoriously difficult to handle though. Sometimes people play more, sometimes people play less. It even varies per realm. If the numbers are very clear on new realms being needed after this weekend I'm sure we'll open a couple. However, I doubt there's such a clear need and we might settle for waiting a week to get some more reliable numbers to work with. I can't really say anything for sure until early or mid next week when we've had the chance to catch up with everyone and have a good look at the numbers.

Q u o t e: Is there an ETA on free realm transfers? By free I meen to a server of our choice, with low or medium population, not free of charge.
Can the realm tranfers be made automatically, or do they require manual actions?
No news on this. When there's news we'll make sure to post it as soon as we can.
Q u o t e: Btw, Dentarg allready had queues, but is still a recommended server.
Will the 'recommended' thing be removed only when a server has 300+ people queues every evening?
I suspect Dentarg is still running with a slightly lower cap than the normal one. I'll look into that at the office on Monday and have it raised asap if that's the case.
Q u o t e: Haomarush :)
*cough* Yeah. :)
Q u o t e: in case you haven't noticed, there has been 24 more pages in that topic and even though there's like 5 pages only bumping or more, there's really great points made out to you Thundgot and Blizzard people. I really hope that you care to read the points made out to YOU and not only assume that you're right because you already said something on the first page.
I gave our view on the matter and I honestly think it very unlikely that there were counter-arguments in that thread that we had not already brought up internally or were brought up on these forums in the past. This is far from the first time this discussion is seen around here.
However, I'll be happy to have a thorough look at the arguments to see whether anything new came up. ...when I'm back from my vacation. ;)

Q u o t e: So has anyone had time to look at the population numbers and can you give anymore information?
I've had a look at the numbers, and they're still "holiday numbers" so they're not too reliable. We'll be raising some lower-than-standard caps and removing some Recommended tags this week though. I hope to be able to give word tomorrow on whether we open new realms or not this week.

Q u o t e: im getting really aggravated by this. On the front page there is a link to "recommended realms"-thread. Go to look and you find Dentarg and Khadgar there... For god's sakes, both have queues.
Updating that one this evening.
Edit: gotta run to catch my ride home. I'll post news from home. ;)[ post edited by Thundgot ]

While I can't promise anything just yet, as we're waiting for the necessary approvals, the current plan is to open some new realms later this week (not tomorrow). We're considering one each of PvP and PvE with the option (as always) of opening more if these fill up very quickly.
As said, no promise. I'll let you know as soon as anything is settled.

Q u o t e: I'm not sure if that's good news or disappointing news.
Good news that it could be possible later this week but disappointing that compared to the US, the EU side are once again seen to be trailing far behind
We can't open realms "because the US does", or Korea or China for that matter. That new realms are needed one place doesn't mean new realms are needed elsewhere, and similar for the number of realms. We have to consider the population on our realms, just like they consider the population on their realms. ;)
