Subject: Lucifron Bugged - GM Response Unacceptable
Dear CS staff & fellow players,

Last night was probably the most frustrating night I have ever had during my tenure in WOW which runs from opening day until present. Let me explain and I urge you if you have experienced similar events please post here so we can try to get this fixed and give a warning to all other guilds out there attempting MC after the latest patch.

Here is what happened….

We zoned into Molten Core at Approximately 9:45 after having waited an hour for our timer to reset. I led a raid that consisted of 40 guild-members from the Nightcrawlers Guild on the PVE server Durotan. We were the second guild on the Server to kill Ragnaros (cheers guildmates on finally accomplishing that!) and are very familiar with the items, drops and mobs in Molten Core.

Approximately 30 minutes later we engaged Lucifron. Our MT pulled him and immediately we realized he was grey to about 1\2 of the raid. The other 1\2 of the raid he was red to. We quickly made the call that as long as someone could loot the corpse we would be ok and continued the kill. /kick myself in the rear end for not calling for a wipe and resetting agro but we live and learn. Basically Lucifron died and none of the raid party could loot the corpse, including those members to which Lucifron showed up as Red instead of Grey. We tried logging out, we tried disabling add-ons everything. End result was a quick petition b\c we could not loot.

Let me begin by giving thanks to the GM Quizzon who quickly answered all the petitions we sent and began talking to me in tells about what happened before we even reached Magmadar. Thank you for the quick response GM Quizzon.

GM Quizzon informs me that Blizzard is aware of this bug and apologizes for the inconvenience. The bug stems from the use of Damage Shields. IF the initial damage done to Lucifron is done by the damage shield then the corpse becomes un-lootable and noone on the raid can loot the corpse. According to GM Quizzon the bug is know, acknowledged and is being looked into by Blizzard. At this point I am feeling very confident the system in place to solve problems such as these will work and my guild will get their due rewards for the kill. I could not have been more wrong.

GM Quizzon goes on to inform me that the GM staff will be more then happy to help us assuming what I am telling him is fact and we did indeed kill Lucifron. After picking my jaw up off the floor and recovering from this obvious smack in the face, I offered to allow the GM to teleport to me as the corpse was still laying there. I also gave him the exact time remaining on your saved instance showing the Lucifron died less then 15 minutes previously. To shorten an already lengthy story he told me that an investigation would have to take place to confirm the kill and if we had actually killed Lucifron another GM would contact me and that's all he would tell me outside yes it's a bug. His solution and work around for the bug so everyone knows is do not apply damage shields to your MT until after the initial damage has been done to Lucifron. He also stated it only seems to be effecting Lucifron and no other MC bosses. Our MT happens to have a Drillborer Disk which I am assuming his is supposed to un-equip until this bug is fixed b\c it has a built in Damage shield.

Needless to say I was at the mercy of the Blizzard system now waiting for their "investigation" to take place so my raiding party could be reimbursed for the items they missed out on. Shockingly Senior gamemaster Ylitz messaged me about 1AM with my answers.

Senior Game Master Ylitz was looking at the log of the fight and could see that our MT did in fact hit Lucifron first and the first damage was done by the damage shield. Our MT also landed the killing blow. I was excited at this point as they had confirmed our kill and we would be getting our items back. Unfortunately, I was so very wrong again.

Senior GM Ylitz informed me that he would be more then happy to reimburse the items that Lucifron dropped to us as we did not receive them b\c of a bug. I thanked him as asked for the items that dropped so I could get them distributed to our raid party.

When I saw this statement "WOW, I have never seen Luci drop so little" I knew I was in for a long night. I was informed that Lucifron dropped the following:

Qty 1 -- Tome of Tranquil Shot

Qty 1 -- Heart of Fire

Qty 1 -- Elemental fire

Qty 1 -- Essence of fire

No epics, No rares, No uncommons , No schematics and no gold. That was all he had dropped and without blinking an eye the GM asked me how to distribute them. I immediately pointed out that something was drastically wrong and it was clear there were items missing as Lucifron always drops an Epic item, to my knowledge normally two.

I was then greeted with the next round of quotes from the record books. "Lucifron does not always drop epic items" "He has a high chance to do so but it is not guaranteed you will get an epic item from him". When I questioned these statements based upon history and documented fact that all times in the past he has dropped 2 epic items I was greeted with the statement that was the start of my downfall in the conversation. "You must have gotten lucky in the past"

I attempted to explain to the GM that the only reason Lucifron would not have purple loot would be a bugged loot table. He informed me that is not the case and that at times he will drop none. I had heard rumors of Lucifon being bugged since the patch so I pushed back as to when he saw this event happen previously and could he ever tell me of a time that Lucifron dropped zero epics. He kindly informed me that yes he had as a matter of fact and that it was two days ago. The exact same incident we had where Lucifron was un-lootable b\c of a damage shield doing the first damage. Get this, the only thing Lucifron dropped when he restored the loot on that kill was a single Schematic per GM Ylitz's own words. So I continued to push back as to why this was not considered a bug as there was clearly a problem in the loot table when the kill is flagged un-lootable. I got no where of course. When asked who I could talk to to appeal his decision I was told that he was a Senior GM and there would be noone else I could talk to he was the final say. He did offer my the wowfeedback email address to email my concerns and offered that I could post on the website if I was not satisfied so here I am.

I should have pointed out to him that Shaman set gear never drops for Alliance in MC and Pally set items never drop for horde in MC so hence when the mob is tagged first by an unknown entity ie: Damage Shield, the loot populator has no idea what "group" of drops to pull from so this causes the lack of epics to appear. That is the reason for why he saw no epics, and why the last time this happened he saw the same thing. But by that time I was very tired, very frustrated and quite honestly it should not be neccesary for us as the player base to educate the GM staff.

Our parting words were him informing me that nothing I could possible say would convince him to give us 2 free epics that we had not deserved. To which I responed was absolutely uncalled for and that we were not asking for handouts. I offered to readdress the conversation after Blizzard had admitted Lucifron's table was bugged in this instance and if that was the case we would expect reimbursement of the items. At which time he informed me he was going to go help other customers now. I thanked him for his time, albeit begrudgingly and told him I would look forward to readdressing the situation at a later date. Both tells which went unanswered. When I sent a tell asking if he got the last two I was greeted with the lovely GM ignore message of "If you have a problem submit a GM ticket". This was when I logged off as I had to be at work in under 5 hours.

If you are still with me at this point then you are either someone who has experienced the same problems or hopefully you are a member of the Blizzard staff that can help rectify this horrible problem. The lack of game knowledge this particular member of the GM staff displayed was not only ridiculously inadequate, it truly makes me wonder why 75 of us pay Blizzard our hard earned dollars to play this game. To be told we got lucky and that we were asking for someone we did not deserve and earn is a slap in my face along with those that regularly charge into battle at my side. I do not appreciate myself or my guildmates being insulted.

We have discussed it in guild and will be entering a new petition today that includes the discussion about the faction of the unknown entity. Hopefully this time we will get a competant GM.

My questions to you as a community member or staff employee is can we make the populous aware of this issue to that other guilds do not experience the same problems we did? Secondly, has anyone else experienced similar problems and how did you rectify it if you did? Lastly, to the CS & GM staff who do I turn to in order to appeal this decision and the statements that were made by Senior GM Ylitz other then another petition?

Thank you for your time and input,

Officer of the Nightcrawlers

   Alexian,

I've contacted that Customer Service department and we're going to discuss the issue. Also, the bug has been brought to the attention of our QA department and we'll hopefully be able to get it fixed.

I can't make any promises on behalf of the Customer Service staff but they are very reasonable, hard-working and fair people.

Apologies for this bug and I hope we can help.
