Subject: New/Old stratholme 5man gate bug back?
We were on a 5-man stratholme undead run last night. Things were going fine and dandy, then I guess we got careless and we wiped on Baron Riverdale. The shaman died too close to him and couldn't anhk. So we ran back in and cleared the few bat patrol respawns but when we got to the Gauntlet gate it was still closed. We went and check the zigs and there was nothing in the them and out of boredom we cleared the few mobs we had skipped and left alive. We then opened a ticket and sat around and waited for a response for an hour and a half but never got one. Has any experienced this since the patch came out?

It was never a bug that the gate remained closed if you wiped out to the Baron event. That was by design. Now, just because it was by design doesn't mean it was a good thing. Our original thought was that Stratholme was going to be a somewhat "hardcore" high-end dungeon and we wanted to make the encounter difficult. But by not re-opening the gate if you wipe out it simply makes the encounter frustrating and feel buggy.

We've fixed it for 1.6.0 so that if you fail at any point from the Abominations through Rivendare the gate will re-open.

There's a big difference between making something challenging and having it feel frustrating and broken. Ultimately, it's the Baron fight itself that should be the challenge. Not spending the time to flip the instance and re-clear because someone sent an ill-timed Eye of Killrogg to the wrong place at the wrong time.
