Blackwing Lair is very different from Onyxia's Lair and the Molten Core.
There are multiple rooms in the dungeon and each room or area plays out very differently.
There are multiple "named" mobs in addition to the true boss at the end.
The dungeon is coming along nicely and is going through internal raid testing currently. Once itemization and playtesting are complete, we'll patch it in.
And to answer the question regarding the key -- No, there is no key to access the dungeon, although you will have to have access to Upper Blackrock Spire before entering for the first time.
