Subject: International Characters used in Naming
   Apparently, using international characters in your character's name is a violation of the naming policy. I used an acute accent over a vowel in one of my toon's names and a GM made me change it.

I didn't know. I apologised. I renamed my toon.

But the more I look around, the more I see blatent violations of this naming policy. Was I singled out? I don't mind following a rule but it must be enforced consistently. And this rule is one that can be automatically enforced with a little filtering at character creation or even a script to identify all the names with illigal characters and an automatic email.

It is not fair to make a rule that you will not enforce consistently.

   Hello Carrig,

While these international letters and characters are considered to be acceptable for names in other World of Warcraft play regions, they are not on the US / Oceania realms. If you encounter names containing such letters you can open a ticket to a Game Master to report the name. Our full naming policies can be located at:
