Subject: Career AH scammers allowed free reign!
   The scam:

Scammer takes items which people commonly buy in bulk, puts a very low (e.g. 75silver) bid and a 99gold buyout. The AH lists their auction at the top by default, due to the low buyout. They pepper items like this throughout the AH, snagging people in a hurry or who are carelessly buying again and again. If nobody buys the item before the time expires, the scammer cancels the auction.

On Cenarion Circle there are ALWAYS 1-3 character names perpetrating this.

I used to submit tickets on these people until a GM told me that there was sufficient protection built into the AH, and they would take no action!!

Almost ironically, a few weeks later, my girlfriend was purchasing mats for a Darkmoon necklace and suddenly came up 198g short. I told her not to open her mail and I checked the sell prices listed in the mail. Sure enough, she got scammed x2. I had her leave the mail with the item intact and submit a ticket. The GMs would not take any action.

My girlfiend, rightly so, feels that the game should be a place to enjoy and avoid the stresses of real-life, ripoff-artists, etc. She felt that Blizzard is directly going against its SUPPOSED scamming policy:

She cancelled her account over this, mostly due to Blizzard's less-than-stellar handling of it, and the fact that her hours of work (lets face it, farming gold can be a grind) can be destroyed by a scammer with no repercussions.

Because she cancelled, I may also cancel, as my play experience is now that much less fun.

I can understand not being able to police A person putting AN item up this way, but these characters are CLEAR and OBVIOUS habitual offenders.

We have addressed this issue in the past, Jorx; but no, we do not consider what you have described to be a "scam." The Auction House system is considered to be a free market; enabling players to place their items up for sale at whatever price they choose. There are fail-safes in place to prevent players from accidentally purchasing items for the incorrect amount, and we will not be able to reimburse players who have skipped past these fail-safes. If a player has confirmed the amount by clicking through the confirmation dialogue box (which clearly displays the amount that the item is selling for), then the sale is final. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused your girlfriend, but we can only suggest that she be very careful when using the Auction House in the future.

If either of you would like to submit feedback regarding your experience with the Game Master Department (or the level of service we provide), please contact wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com. Each and every e-mail that we receive is used to improve the quality of the support we provide. Thank you in advance!

Since we have exhausted this topic in the past on this forum, I feel now is a good time to provide you all with a link which provides further insight from us regarding our policies toward Auction House price misrepresentation:
