Subject: can I get an update on the combat frame issue
   I remember this being reported a while back and it certainly happens to me -- so much, in fact, that I have a macro bound to a button on a secondary bar with
/script ChatFrame2:Show();
in it.

The issue is that every now and then, seemingly at random, the Combat frame will just disappear. Sometimes it happens on zoning, sometimes not. Sometimes it happens once and then again in a few minutes and sometimes never in a whole play session.

I suppose I'm asking the CS people as much as the players who troll this forum. Is this an addon issue or is this an issue with the game? It seems to me it was fixed or nearly fixed in a previous patch and then broken.

Thanks :)

   This does sound like it is caused by an issue related to your User Interface (UI), Pelf. It should be possible to resolve the issue by resetting your UI, using the following steps:
    1) Log out of World of Warcraft to your desktop, thereby exiting the game completely.
    2) Navigate to the World of Warcraft folder, which is often found in the Program Files directory (the default path is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
    3) Either rename (or delete) the WTF, WDB, and Interface folders. (Note: If you do not wish to permanently lose any third-party addons you may have accrued, or macros you've written for your characters, you would be well-advised to merely rename the folders, rather than delete them entirely.)
    4) Log back into the game by double-clicking WoW.exe, ensuring that you do not reinstall any addons before doing so.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you are still experiencing the issue after doing so. Good luck!
