New server and new character. Since lvl 50-60 farming rugged leather for kits and buying as I went. Mailed rugged leather to friend and then they were returned as kits x 10. Enough to complete the Faire ticket requirement and obtain the trinket for my character.
Severe lag and disconnections forced me to check my system, yes it is Blizz's fault that the servers lag and you get disconnected, but I thought that I would run the repair program in any case.
When I relogged on that character and checked my Toons' mailbox no rugged leather kits whatsoever.
No, the time had not expired!
No, I do not run other programs or add-ons!
No my account has not been hacked (as there are more items that are worth far more than a couple of hundred rugged armor kits x 10.)
Put in a ticket and I am basically told bad luck!
They disappeared and congratulations please enjoy gaming with Blizzard!
The time, effort and gold that was required was never counted, however I now look at the situation and shake my head in disbelief.
A new server on an old platform, a lot of hard work against a multitude of lag issues (that will never be recitifed) and then this.
Well congratulations Blizz I have come to the angry realisation that the issues of items disappearing out of the mailbox is something that you do not want to broach and do not want to spend the time to check. The lagfest and now the disappearance of these items leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth as to why I pay good money to be angry and disappointed. I can get those feelings in real life and when one starts to not enjoy the game anymore, through faults of the manufacturer, one starts to question the 'value' of the game!
Customer relations starts with solving customer issues and obviously certain issues do not want to be solved.

Hello Wakkee,
I have inquired into this situation and had it looked into in depth. We examined it in detail and while obviously I can't give you all those details here on a public forum I can summarize the situation for you.
1) Nothing unusual happened. Your rugged armor kits did not vanish.
2) All these mail items were in fact just returned to the sender.
3) All these mail items successfully arrived at sender.
You should speak to your friend about these items. It is always recommended to assume that such mail would be back with whoever sent it as your only options are to collect the item from the mail or return it. I am sorry that you were not informed earlier where your mail went. However Game Master do not get involved with misplaced mail where items are just being sent being sent between players. This is because a player will have received the mail, whether it be in error or not, and the Game Master can not interfere.

I can not comment on what this player may or may not have told you, only on the facts of where the mail went.
This is why we do not get involved in misplaced mail issues between players. We will not mediate a dispute on whether a player kept mail that was sent to him but wasn't intended for him to keep.
