Hello Blakangus,
I am not sure what happened to your thread. Perhaps some flaming took place in the later part of the thread. However I do not believe it was your original post at fault.
When your pet draws initial aggro of a group of creatures it does not have a very strong hold over them. In order to be able to hold aggro on the creatures other than the one that it is directly fighting I would recommend having your pet hit each of the members of the group a few times or having your pet use an area effect. Otherwise a proc like you described, or even a potion, is likely to pull these other creatures off your pet and on to you.
