Ok, I did the quest for the Virtous Bracers and when I completed the quest it made my devout bracers disappear. Is this supposed to happen, it never gave me a warning or anything.

Yes this is working correctly. You are upgrading the bracers and the devout ones are used as part of the quest turn in.

Oh, Ok... the guy should give you a warning or something because I would have disenchanted.
If you had disenchanted your old devout bracers then you would have been unable to complete the quest until you had new devout bracers available to turn in.
