Amanorim, how long was it since your character was deleted? Lower level characters that are deleted vanish from Blizzard's terminal much sooner than a level 60.
You may write a petition in game ticket, or send an email to WoWCharHelp@Blizzard.com. You will need to include the following items:
Account name
Character names
Realms the characters are on
Level, class, and race of the characters
Exact name of the items that were lost (if any)
The time and date of the loss (as precisely as possible)
How the items or characters were lost (if you know)
Also Amanorim, this will take up a limited restoration, so ask yourself if it's worth doing that. Also, the restoration is not guaranteed, as you can understand for example if you have deleted the character a long time ago. How's that?
