Subject: Account Question
Im wondering if this will be possable. I bought my friend World of Warcraft around a year ago, as he was moving to Califorina. I thought it would be a good way for us to stay in touch and remain good friends. After about a year he decided World of Warcraft was getting very bornig, and decided he was going to quit. He told me all this and i said thats fine I understand. About 2 weeks later he send me back the disks, his account information, basiclly everything i bought him. He figured sense i was Technally the orginal owner he would just give me back what i orginally bought. Now Im trying to figure out if I am able to change the name on the account to my own instead of his. Its not so much a transfer issue more of a liablity issue. I would feel more comfortable if i was going to pay for this account to remain active to be changed under my name. I have all information IE secert password and such. How would I go about doing this? Calling blizzard and trying to change it that way? Would love a blue response. Thanks.

PS. I read that it does state in the TOS blizzard doesnt reconize account transfers between people, but im still curious as im the orginal buyer of the account. I know there is no way for me to prove this as the account is in his name.

Anyways Thanks for whichever response i get :)

I would like to clarify this. While you may be the original purchaser of the software you would not be the original account owner. If the account was set up in your friends name it is his account - regardless who might have bought the software package at the store.

Unfortunately there would be no way to change the account owner on this account to you. The account was and will remain his. This is covered in the World of Warcraft Terms of Use Agreement. This can be found at:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html

The paragraph in question is in section 1.E.
    E. Blizzard Entertainment does not recognize the transfer of Accounts, and any authorized transfer of the World of Warcraft software (as set forth on the worldofwarcraft.com website) will result in the permanent deletion of the Account attached to that software. You may not offer any Account for sale or trade, and any such offer is a violation of this Agreement and may result in suspension or termination of the Account.
