|
(My roomate just logged himself in to let me post this, so no i dont use his account or know his info.)
Ok, so about 3 weeks ago, I had my account hacked, did the whole petition thing. I just moved recently and had to change the address info under the account. The next day, I get an email saying this(just a snip):
"Greetings Ryan,
>
>It has recently come to our attention that the World of Warcraft account
>you are using may have been compromised. For security and privacy reasons,
>the account has been temporarily disabled. This message contains our
>Account Retrieval process, which will enable the rightful user of the
>account to resume their adventures in the World of Warcraft."
So they ask me to fax a lot of my personal info, including a photo copied ID and all. I sent it in about 3 days ago and no word yet. My questions are:
1). Did my account get locked up from changing my information and they flagged it thinking the hacker is still using my account or is it just part of the character restoration process when dealing with a hacker?
2). How long does it typically take for them to recieve my fax? Will they inform me by email or call me if the information doesn't match up? (because the address I put on the fax was the one that I used to live at)
Thanks to anyone who helps.

Hello Ryan,
It appears your first fax was not received or if it was it was unable to be identified or read. Hopefully we will shortly reach the second fax that you sent in yesterday and it will be legible. I will inquire into the status of the second one for you. If it turns out that this second one is also unable to be read I would recommend trying to fax from another fax machine at a different location.

Follow up:
It seems that at this time we have not yet received a legible fax from you Ryan. I would suggest trying again when you next can from another fax machine. Good luck.

Q u o t e: I appologize for all these responses, but last night I tried sending the information through the fax number (949) 725-7972 and it was not going through properly, giving me an error. I tried that number twice with no luck, so I used the second number (949) 725-1783 and it worked.
My question: Does it matter which fax it goes through? I aquired both of these fax numbers through the .pdf file in the email that asked me to fax all the information. However, when I go to the Account Administartion website, the only number listed is the first one (the one that didn't work).
Hello again,
No it does not matter which of those two fax lines you use. However as you were having trouble with one of them I have passed your report on so that the lines can be double checked.

Q u o t e: Well I just got an email saying it was, once again, illegible. However, I've yet to hear what part it is that you can't read. Any chance I could get some details here?
Hi again,
As your posts here are not on the account involved I would need a name and realm of a character on your account in order to be able to inquire into this for you.

Q u o t e: Hello,
This is Kenichi from Dragonblight. I figured I'd post here because the same thing happened to me recently. Maybe somebody will get some help form this thread in the future =]. I, like the others, faxed my papers 3 days or so ago and have yet to recieve a reply. I also just faxed another copy of my information today on the other fax number just to be sure. I suppose the only other option if this fax doesn't work is to mail it. Hopefully I'll hear form Blizzard soon.
Hi Kenichi,
When I inquired into this the other day I found that your fax had been received and that you had already had your account unlocked. I hope everything is going well now.

Q u o t e: I already posted it a little ways up, and I accidently used a different character in that post. but the character i petitioned is Ryeder on the Daggerspine server.
Sorry I overlooked that post. I inquired into this matter for you. It does not appear that parts of your faxes are illegible but rather that nothing legible has been received from you. By this I mean no fax has yet been received that was able to be identified as being in regard to your account or issue. As we receive large numbers of faxes every day on a large variety of issues it appears something is going wrong at your end.
At this point I would have to recommend giving up on using the fax method for now. Once again carefully fill out and follow the instructions within the following document:
http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/WoW/other/Account-Retrieval.pdf
Once you have done this instead of faxing it in to us please write the Account Name and Attention: WoW Account Administration on the documents and mail them to:
Blizzard Entertainment
Attention: WoW Account Administration
P.O. Box 18979
Irvine, CA 92623
While mail is not as fast as fax it is very unlikely a mail will not arrive. Once again please remember to fill out and include the above form. I wish you the best with this Ryan and hopefully this will resolve the fax problems you are having.

Q u o t e: I had a feeling it would come to mailing it. Oh well, as long as I just get it over with.
I thank you for all these responses you've helped with Kaone, I appreciate the patience.
Not a problem Ryan. Good luck.
