Subject: Account question
My friend wanted to give me his account, I was wondering if that as against the ToS. I know SELLING your account is against it, but he's just giving it to me because he decided to quit.

Just wanted to know if it's against the ToS or not before he gives it to me, I don't want to get in trouble, lawl.

And if it's not, what do I need to do/know to change the contact information to my own? Because I saw that you have to call in to change the name/phone/email.

Subject: Re: Account question
It is not, in any way, possible to transfer the ownership of an account from one person to another. Our Terms of Use (section 1-E, to be precise) clearly states that Blizzard Entertainment does not recognize the transfer of accounts, and offering an account for sale or trade is a violation of the ToU Agreement and may result in the suspension or termination of the account.

If your friend were to provide you with his account information or allow you to play on his account, that would be considered account sharing; which is also a violation of the Terms of Use. Section 1-A of that document states that "You may not share the Account with anyone, except that if you are a parent or guardian, you may permit one (1) minor child to use the Account when not in use by you" and Section 1-D states that "You may not disclose your Password to anyone, or allow your Password to be used by anyone other than yourself and/or your one (1) minor child."

I hope this helps to clarify our position on this matter, Ambelie. Please feel free to review our Terms of Use; it can be found here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html
