Subject: Realm Stability Issues - 8/20/06
   The following realms (also known as Battlegroup 5) are currently experiencing mail, Auction House, Boat/Zepplin, loot, and latency issues:

Andorhal
Anetheron
Archimonde
Black Dragonflight
Dalaran
Dalvengyr
Dentarg
Duskwood
Executus
Haomarush
Khadgar
Mal'Ganis
Norgannon
Scilla
Steamwheedle Cartel
Thrall
Turalyon
Ysera
Ysondre
Zuluhed

I am currently working to gather as much information as possible on the cause of these issues. Our database technicians have determined the cause of this issue to be related to the hardware, and we are currently working with our vendor on a resolution. It may be necessary to restart some of the realms as a result, however, we will do our best to provide advance warning, should this become necessary.

In the meantime, we appreciate your continued patience and apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. Due to the high amount of threads that are being created about these issues, we deemed it necessary to create this sticky thread. This thread will be continually updated as I receive more information about these issues and the steps we are taking to resolve them. Any additional threads about these realm issues may be locked/deleted at our discretion. The previous thread, created by Sonic, can be found here:

As part of our continuing efforts to resolve the issues affecting the above realms we will be restarting all these realms shortly. These realms will be brought down for a short period before being accessible for play once again. Our server technicians are working with our vendors at this time to resolve the underlying matters behind these realm issues. We greatly thank you for your patience in this matter as we work diligently to address this matter promptly. We do apologize for all the inconvenience being experienced.

We would like to inform everyone that the items that went missing from the Auction House/mail after the realm restarts on Saturday (8/19) should be returned to characters' mailboxes during Tuesday's (8/22) weekly scheduled maintenance. After the maintenance is complete, the mail that was sent between the restarts should appear in the recipient's mailbox. Auctions that were completed during that time should end normally - if no players had bid on the item, it should appear in the seller's mailbox; but if the item had been bid on, the money should be sent to the seller and the item should be sent to the winner. Auctions that were active during the time that the realms were restarted for the second time should be restored to the Auction House. We would like to thank everyone for their continued patience, and will continue to provide you with additional information as it becomes available to us.
