Subject: Warnings connected to 3 hour suspensions
Can you please give me more information on your Warning issues? It says on your website that warnings usually have no long term repercussions but right under that in the 3 hour suspension text it says that you recieve a 3 hour suspension due to repeating an action that gave you a warning in the past. This tells me that warnings are permanent account marks as reference to determine if a 3 hour suspension is necessary.

Well just in the past week I have recieved 2 warnings over 2 different things that you see very common in WoW. Infact it happens so common that if I reported the incidents to a game master then you would think I was the top official for the FBI covering the WoW ToS. So I tend to ignore minor ToS violations that are performed by other players. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right? Well now that I have been given 2 warnings, my playstyle is changing dramatically. I don't feel like communicating with other players anymore as that action alone is what got me my 2 warnings and truthfully I'm loosing the motivation to even want to login to WoW anymore. Thats 2 things that I know if I slip on anytime in the future its going to give me a 3 hour suspension, and the marks on my account will just keep going up.

So I need to know what your real standing on account warnings are. Are they permanent marks on my account or does it go by the severity of the warning whether or not its carved in stone on my account?

While I understand your concern, Grimsbone, players are given warnings to inform them that their actions have in some way violated our in-game policies; in the hopes that it will prevent the player from repeating the same mistake. Warnings are the most minor form of an account penalty and they do not directly affect the status of the account. However, if a player violates our policies and a Game Master is trying to determine the appropriate penalty, the player's past offenses and the severity of the current offense are the two factors that affect the penalty that is given.

If you have been warned for violating our in-game policies, these warnings have been recorded on your account. Warnings do not differ by severity; as I said before, they are simply a means of informing the player that they have violated our policies and (hopefully) a deterrent to prevent the player from repeating their actions again in the future. In order to ensure that no further action is taken against your account, I would suggest that you be very careful in your interaction with other players, so that you are not able to be found in violation of our policies.

You are correct in that Game Masters will not take action unless a player has been reported. We do our best to ensure that any violations that are reported to us are thoroughly investigated and all appropriate actions are taken. If you see a player violating our policies, please report them so that we can address the matter. Should you wish to recommend any changes to the way warnings are handled, please visit our Suggestions Forum. Good luck!
But hark, methinks a mortal doth approach...
