I have lately wanted to filter all of my incoming whispers as I really don't like getting asked into a group randomly by people I don't know. If I were interested in a group, I would be in the LFG channel. However, I am concerned that if I filter out all of my incoming whispers that I might miss GM tells (from a petition I have or even the rare possibility that I am reported for something).
So, my question is this: Do GM whispers bypass the regular in game chat filter for incoming whispers?

I would be careful if looking towards relying on an AddOn to achieve this idea of safely ignoring players you don't know but not Game Masters. The AddOns may achieve the functionality of "ignore" without making any use of the in-game function /ignore. To some degree it is up to the design of the AddOn with what text is chosen to be displayed.
