"Epic items that are level 51 and above will now disenchant into a
Nexus Crystal. Also items that normally disenchant into Large
Brilliant Shards have a very small chance of disenchanting into a
Nexus Crystal."
Quote - Blizzard patch notes.
Well it turns out i disenchanted 'Gauntlets of Heroism' - Epic tier 0.5 gloves, and got two small brilliant shards.
Furthermore a GM refused to re-imburse me given that 'purple gloves are considered blue quality when disenchanted'
Sooo... i lost my purple gloves i could still use (i needed the nexus for enchant), ended up with 2 useless shards, and pretty much got told purple = blue is working as intended.
Note this tier line also costs up to 500g to complete, if anything we should get MORE from disenchanting them........
Do you think this is fair? i dont
Maybe someone can explain the logic behind this trickery.
Or tell me where i can go to follow this up further[ post edited by Chronix ]

Hello Chronix,
The explanation for this is extremely simple but not immediately apparent. Due to the fact these gloves are quest items their "equip level" is not displayed. However it would be displaying "level 50" if it did and thus these items are not high enough to generate nexus crystals. I hope this makes sense.

Q u o t e: I guess.... except the GM just told me level 55.... he said the item was level 55 was considered blue, now your saying its level 50 and considered epic... The question remains, wheres my nexus?
I imagine different terminologies are getting confusing the situation. Items have an item level. This item level indicates how "advanced" an item it is and is not directly displayed within World of Warcraft. You can however "see" such numbers on certain third-party websites. Secondly there is an equip level. This is the level required by your character in order to put the item on. With the exception of quest items this is displayed. The item level and the equip level are related and for items with an item level less that 66 the equip level is 5 less than the item level.
Now back to your gloves. Your gloves have an item level of 55 and would have an equip level of 50 (if they were not a quest item). For a nexus crystal to be generated upon disenchantment a item will need to have an item level of 56 or an equip level of 51.

Q u o t e: Kaone, i thank you for your accurate reply. I did however (around 5minutes before re-checking this) already realise your point, and the true nature of these gauntlets.
The real problem behind my confusion is this response from a GM: 'I have looked into this matter and it appears that the Tier .5 upgrades are still treated as rare items and not epics when disenchanting. I apologize again for this inconvenience'
That is where i got annoyed ^ However i justify your points now... I guess it would help to recieve consistent knowledge from Game Masters...
Whats that email adress again for incompetant GMs? bah forget it im too tired.
I do agree Chronix. It does appear that is worded in a confusing manner. I am sorry that the answer to this was not made more clear to you from the onset. If you would like to submit feedback on this Game Master or this incident you can use the wowgmfeedback@blizzard.com email address.
