|
I'll try to make this short, but may not succeed.
Last evening I obtained enough rep to finally get my Brood of Noz ring. In one evening, I went from halfway through unfriendly to honoured by handing in all of my insignias after I capped at 2999/3000 neutral. I'm not trying to brag as this is possible for anyone who's been grinding with the guild from the deep chasm of hated.
Anyway, when the raid ended and I'd handed in all the insignias I headed over to Tanaris. I got to the dragon NPC and was tired and wanted to get my ring and log out. It was late. I opened the dialog box with him and saw 3 yellow exclamation points. This was not unexpected as I had neutral, friendly, and honored quests to hand in (so I thought). I chose the first quest of the 3 and saw the single quest reward at the bottom... "Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight" as expected. I look at the ring's info briefly and see that it is the reward for neutral faction. I click the complete quest button. The music sounds as usual.
I speak to the NPC again. There is only 1 quest in the list I notice and it occurs to me that this is odd. Click. (Again there is only one choice at the bottom of the screen) Click. Complete.
Again, Speak to NPC, click, (there is only one option for reward) click, complete. I now have my honored ring. I open my inventory to equip it and... WTH? This is the tank ring!!!! I'm a hunter!!! I have no use for this!!!!
I think a moment. I recall seeing the word "Path" in the title of the 3 quests available the first time I spoke to the Dragon. I now understand that it was at that point that I had to 'chose a path' that would determine my reward. I'm totally screwed!!!
I immediately submit a ticket requesting assistance as I can see no way to fix this problem myself. I go to bed anxious about how this will turn out.
The next morning I log in and see that my ticket is no longer open. I submit another one.
I log into my email and see that I have a message from Blizzard. I have quoted it below.
Greetings Guy,
Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department.
Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill your request at this time, however, at a higher reputation
level you will be able to select a different ring. Though our goal is to attend to each and every
petition we receive, certain actions are beyond the scope of the Game Master Department. We
regret any inconvenience you may have been caused.
Should you require further assistance, please submit another help request the next time you are
online. We hope you continue to enjoy your experience in World of Warcraft!
For any game play questions, please refer to our site at http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/
*** Please do not respond to this email as all conversations on this matter would be best handled
online. ***

Remokh is kind and polite, but is completely wrong! I have started the PATH OF THE PROTECTOR and I cannot chose a different ring at the next rep level. If I could do that, I would have had more than one option for reward at each level. It's funny how even the Game Masters don't understand how this particular quest line operates.
What I would like is for the quests to be reset for me so that I can have a 'do over' and select the correct ring for me.
What I don't understand is why Blizzard chose after creating hundreds if not thousands of quests where your reward is chosen from a list just before you hit the complete quest button, to in this case require the player to chose the reward by selecting one of 3 quests. To add to the confusion, they decided to give all of the 12 quest reward rings the exact same name and icon.
I can understand that some players will want to have a choice of which of these 3 rings to select but why not just use the old system that we are all accustomed to? Why chose in this case to do this and lock a player in to a certain type of ring from neutral all the way to exalted?
I am still hoping that this can be resolved for me but I'm sure that I'm not the only player that this has happened to. I suggest that the quests be altered to be a quest for each rep level with the 3 different rings listed at the bottom of the quest page.
Blue response would be appreciated.
Now, to all the perfect persons out there who will want to respond to this post and tell me what a noob I am and that I should have read the dialog box more carefully before I hit the buttons, I concede that I would not be in this mess if I had done so. Have a nice day!
